Great value for the investment and solved the POG problem on Jeep
2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X with 6 speed manual annd 127k miles, occasionally Popped Out of Gear (POG) in 1st. Forums recommended this B&M shifter to fix the sloppy POG issue with the old OEM shifter. The transmission otherwise shifted fine as normal. I ordered it, fast delivery, pretty straight forward installation, good detailed instructions… Best of all, it solved the sloppy gear shift and POG problem. Shifter gave me a crisp, smooth & tight shift in all 6 gears and reverse. No more popping out of 1st. Totally delighted with the quality and solution to my problem. Price was higher than I wanted, but it fixed the problem so I consider it great value for the money.

Should've Bought This a Long Time Ago
This is probably the single best upgrade you could make to the drivability of a Jeep Wrangler. It makes the vehicle feel so much better to drive. The shifter itself is a lot quieter than the OEM shifter. It's more robust in ever aspect. The thing is heavy, clicky, and very positive. 1st and Reverse were always finicky in my 2010 Jeep JK and this shifter cleaned it right up. I know it costs a lot, but you get what you pay for. People complain that their shifts are slower because the shifts have a lot of resistance. I think you just need to be a man and grow some muscle because my shifts have gotten quicker. The throws are so shorts it feels like I haven't even moved my arm.

Amazing Upgrade
Get it. Factory shifter sucks and you know it. It’s expensive, but not as costly as hating your Jeep and not wanting to drive it so you trade it in and buy another vehicle with a new set of problems. :) No more falling out of 1st and no more sloppy shifts. This thing makes you feel like you are in command of the shifting like it should.

Pricey, but a very necessary upgrade to JK.
Shifter is very well made, really solid quality. The way it shifts now - is like a day versus night. Shifting is crisp and precise, as some others have already mentioned, it takes time to get used to it, because it is more firm and demands a lot more pressure then the old sloppy original one. Installation - I did not bother dropping cross-member and fuel tank, but this requires to completely destroy the foam pad - there is no other way to get original off, without dropping. I replaced mine with custom made, from foam I purchased separately and cut myself out in necessary shape. The provided gasket is rather flimsy and due to other reviews mentioning possible oil leakage, I opted to apply additional liquid gasket, I drove without covers for some while, still no leaks so far. Once the foam is removed - installation is very easy and straight forward. Just remove the old one and drop the new one in. I used the original shifting stick and while a straight B&M shifter stick would be even more firm, for me just swapping shifter mechanism was enough to remove all the grinding and gear slop. Price - this is the only reason this product gets 4/5 stars, I mean the quality is there and in the end it was worth for me personally, but could be off putting for a lot of people. In the end I am very pleased with the end result, I am finally fully enjoying my rides with jeep now, no more random grinding while going from 1st to 2nd gear, shifts are crisp and sporty.

5 month review
I installed the shifter about five months ago. I’m still thinking it was a good purchase. There is a bit of a learning curve to using it at first, but you get used to the added resistance fast. When it’s new, it’s stiff and you have to use a little force, but after a few months, it wears in a bit and gets pretty smooth. It has cleaned up my issues with getting into reverse for sure. I cheated when I installed it and didn’t install the foam donut, so that saved me from not having to drop the gas tank and mess with the trans mounts. I did everything from instead the Jeep. I may get motivated one day and install the donut. We’ll see. Probably not. Once you pull the shift knobs off and the center console out of the jeep, it’s four star screws, maybe a 20 minute job. Value for money? I mean, it’s expensive for sure. Yes, I’m glad I bought it once. Appearance? Looks stock unless you put the stickers on your jeep.

Fix for the Wrangler JKU manual transmission poppingout of gear
Outstanding, Extremely well built! This fixed my 2008 Jeep Wrangler JKU manual transmission popping out of gear. The install is not for someone who is not very proficient with vehicle mechanics. On the Jeep Wrangler JKU you have to drop the skid plate, disconnect and lower the front of the gas tank 6 inches, disconnect and lower the transmission cross member 4 inches. You will need to purchase a foam transmission top gasket as the factory one will rip apart when you remove it. Also you will need to trim it to fit the B&M. If you are planning to do this install yourself watch the B&M YouTube videos on how to install this! Tool tip: go buy 1/4 drive Torx set you will need the smaller diameter for the B&M installation to the transmission as it’s much larger than the factory shifter. Overall I’m extremely happy with the B&M sport shifter, my Jeep is now safe as it doesn’t pop out of gear and it’s fun to bang through the gears with this shifter.

Great Shifter
This is a great product. Jeeps should come like this from factory. It will take some get used to it. But the shifting is way more precise. I like it a lot.

Worth the price
Eliminated the nsg370 slop, reverse stays in place now. Took 25 minutes to install on a TJ. Shifts are stiff at first but loosen up over time

For the price that an Australian customer would pay, I expected an install and forget experience. Similar experience to a previous review by Bentley on 15/mar/22. This shifter was installed twice. The first time using the supplied rubber gasket, subsequent install using oil jointing gasket paper to eliminate a potential transmission fluid leak source. It turns out it wasn't that the supplied rubber gasket ruptured, but the quality and tensioning of the crimp ring on the shifters boot. This caused leaking on the left side of the shifter and tracking along the boot. A common theme in photos is an inadequate crimp on the ear clamp. Unfortunately, once I discovered this defficiency, it was too late for the returns process and didn't like my chances of getting any product support based on Bentleys experience. The fix? a 78-102mm hose clamp and a bead of gasket silicone on the internal wall of the boot. Be forewarned: I would recommend going through the returns process as this will almost certainly void your warranty. My advice to future installers is to test drive your jeep before re-installing the centre console, and monitor for signs of transmission fluid prior to buttoning the lot up. On the plus side, still breaking in the shifter, sometimes a little stiff to get out of 3rd into 2nd or vise-versa. The shifter, even w/o the b&m shift stick offers a *very* positive engagement into gear.

My Mercedes-built 6-speed manual transmission that is in my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was always popping out of first gear with a bang so bad that I puckered every time. I dropped the money on this B&M shifter and it was so worth it besides getting rid of the crapmission altogether. Mercedes should stick to making fancy pants cars and not transmissions. What a POS but at least now it's driveable. It's very tight and shifts greats. Thanks B&M
