Would this material used alone sufficiently exclude daylight from a photography studio

I have used this to line curtains and found that light gets round the side but not through the material.

What is the best way to attach the lining to thr curtain?

Sew it into the back of the curtain, on top of any lining already existing, from as near the top as you can. It was quite thick and I stupidly used my sewing machine which sadly damaged the machine! So i advise doing it by hand with a strong needle, after which it is very effective!
