This little reel work fantastically! It is small, but un-spools fast enough. It does look like a bait caster, but the spool hole is larger. I have not opened it up to see any internal differences. What I do know is that it works. The fit and finish are excellent. The reel functions smoothly. The drag can be turned up high enough to reel in 15-20 lb carp. I'm using it on a custom set up for my pistol type crossbow. I would love to try it on one of Balista's BAT crossbows! That seems like it would be an amazing rig to have set up for taking fish while I'm a kayak!

I find it amazing can only find two dedicated reels like this for what I need I know you can yes spinning reel open face it’s a good looking little real not sure about line that comes on it should be like a steel braid but don’t believe it is so I would replace line before using it for that purpose

Works as it should. Pretty sturdy. The special braided line the reel it comes with makes a big difference mini crossbow fishing.
