I bought this makeup set for my granddaughter, and she was absolutely delighted with it! The kit is colourful, fun, and perfectly suited for young girls who love pretend play. Everything inside is child-friendly and safe, so I didn’t have to worry about her using it. She spent hours playing “princess” and doing makeovers, and it’s really encouraged her creativity and imagination. The variety in the set is great – plenty of pieces to keep her entertained without being overwhelming. It also comes in a nice case, which makes it easy to store and take along when she visits. The quality is better than I expected for a children’s play kit, and it feels like a lovely little starter set for experimenting with makeup in a fun, age-appropriate way. This made a perfect gift, and I would definitely recommend it for birthdays, Christmas, or any special treat for girls aged 4–12. Seeing my granddaughter’s face light up when she opened it was priceless!

Not the product's fault but I didn't say it was a gift when I ordered it and Amazon stuck a dirty great big label on the outer box which wouldn't come off - yet I don't recall being asked if I was okay about it arriving without any additional packaging. Thankfully, the actual caddy that holds the make-up looks okay without the box so I can wrap it in birthday paper for my Granddaughter. Otherwise, a couple of cons: firstly, be aware that this item is a lot smaller in reality than it appears to be on the photos. Okay yes, they give dimensions on one of the photos but even those are a little larger than reality and they include the handles that stick out. If you read further down, the dimensions are stated as 1.65 x 1.7 x 0.77 cm!!! What? Secondly, the drawers are really stiff and although they have thoughtfully covered the various eye shadows etc. with a protective film or little plastic cover sellotaped on, these are really tricky to remove and would probably require adult supervision. The 2 larger drawers on the front of the box are meant to be opened together i.e. you have to pull out the bottom drawer first and then the one above it so you can see both the brushes and the eye shadows/blushers at the same time. A good idea but I bet there have been quite a few broken caddies whilst trying to figure that out. There are no instructions in the box although maybe it shows something on the outer box that I can't see because someone stuck a dirty great label over it. :-) Thirdly, the bottles of nail varnish are tiny compared to standard sized ones for adults. Finally, the drawer containing the brushes doesn't open out far enough to get at the one right at the back so you then have to remove a very flimsy plastic tray to get at it. Pros: I can't speak for the actual make up itself as it's yet to be used but I can imagine that most young girls would be delighted with the colours and the glitter and having their own make up case. And really, for the price, you can't complain - which is why I'm not sending it back.
