Perfect camping fridge / freezer
Just returned from a weeks camping and I have to say I am very impressed with this fridge. The build quality is excellent and it is very quiet when running. It is big enough to hold more a couple of days worth of food and drink. It cools down very quickly from room temp. to 3 degrees in just 20 mins and if you need it to you can go down as low as -20 and easily freeze meat or other frozen goods. In addition although it is not made clear in the description, the X40 is also compatible with the Alpicool phone app which means you can easily control or check the fridge with your phone over bluetooth which is very handy. All in all it is perfect for camping and it delivers the performance of a domestic fridge or freezer in the field.

Absolute brilliant, ice cold drinks in 35+ heat.
bought this just before our trip away last week as an extra store for drinks etc, just had a week away with it in the awning in 35+ degrees and very humid heat, have to say this worked so brilliantly, kept everything ice cold without any frost build up, and is very quiet too, hardly heard it running all week. brilliant piece of kit compared to the cool box we have been using previously.

EXCELLENT VALUE, EXCELLENT BUILD QUALITY, SUPERB FOR STUDENTS IN HALLS
PROS: 1) EXCELLENT TEMPERATURE STABILITY WITH LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION 2) QUICK TO REACH TEMPERATURE 3) VERY QUIET, ALMOST IMPERCEPTIBLE OPERATION 4) PERFECT CAPACITY (40L) FOR A WEEK'S WORTH OF MEAT/PERISHABLES 5) ROBUST, SHOCKPROOF AND WILL OPERATE AT A 40DEGREE INCLINE FOR SHORT PERIODS X40 MODEL 6) COMES WITH A LARGE BASKET 7) DRAIN HOLE 8) RELATIVELY LIGHTWEIGHT 9) BEST PRICE ON THE INTERNET, VIRTUALLY ยฃ100 LESS THAN ALPICOOL UK SITE 10) COMES WITH BOTH AN AC AND DC ADAPTORS, ALLOWING HOUSEHOLD OR CAR USE 11) APP ENABLED CONS: 1) APP CONNECTION IS ONLY BLUETOOTH, SO ONLY LOCAL USE I bought this because I lecture at University. Many students tell me that the biggest fights are about people stealing other people's food in the communal fridge. My youngest is heading to Newcastle and I hit on the idea of getting him a fridge. I then realised, that if I get a camping style one, if it survives his 3 years, my wife and I can use it on beach days etc. I originally looked at Euhommy, sold on Amazon. However, after some research, it turns out that Alpicool are the best value for money fridges for long term, extended use. Apparently, they have fewer breakdowns than other brands, and even more expensive ones. This particular model, whilst it doesn't have wheels, is very practical and ideal for students who don't necessarily appreciate the value of their possessions. Accordingly, this apparently is shock proof and will operate for short periods at an angle of 40 degrees. It's not the most attractive in a light grey and pastel green.....but in a few days, I won't have to look at it for a while! I was impressed with how quickly it cools down, and how quickly it returns to temperature after opening and adding room temperature food. This is either a fridge or a freezer. It CANNOT operate simultaneously as both. My suggestion to my son who is a confirmed carnivore, is to use it as a fridge. There's plenty of room for around 8 x 1kg supermarket meat packs. Inside is a small shelf, above the compressor which will hold about 4 x 440ml beer cans (though fortunately my son doesn't drink). I know this (about the cans) because we had a farewell party last weekend and I moved the excess alcohol from our very expensive Dometic 55L cooler to the Alpicool. In fact, had I known about these car fridges, I would never have bought the Dometic. The little shelf will hold about 3 large takeaway containers (we often use these for leftovers) and a pint of milk (he doesn't drink tea or coffee either....boring kid! LOL!) The Alpicool X40 has been operational in our house whilst I test it out for the last two days and it has performed excellently. Interestingly, on the Alpicool UK site, the X40 was ยฃ239.00. On Amazon, when I bought it, it was ยฃ132.00. For the first time ever, because this is for my son, I took the 3 year warranty for an additional ยฃ15ish (ยฃ14 and change). I rarely take these, but considering the whole thing came in a lot less than I had expected, and it covers accidental damage for 3 years, it's a bit of peace of mind. There is also no excess...I never thought I'd be extolling the virtues of an extended warranty/insurance! However, it makes sense if you are sending this off with your little darling! All in all, for the use case of a bit of food security (!) for a student, who is naive and non-confrontational, this is an excellent choice. If you are a camper or just do long trips to the South of France for example, this is perfect too. BUY IT, IT'S DOTTORE APPROVED!

Great travelling fridge/freezer - but can't stand 2l bottles up in it
Got this as a Prime Day deal last year, and it's still going strong. Perhaps wouldn't pay full price for it, but the deal at the time was very good value. Although not advertised, it has an internal light, and you can use an app via bluetooth to control it - great if you are in a car and want to check it's working still. Being able to control the temperature means you can use it as a firdge or a freezer, and it does both very well. Also came with both mains cable (its has a transformer though which you need to rest on something due to it's weight), and car 12v adapter. One slightly misleading thing though, at the time of purchase it said you could stand 2l bottles upright in it - you CANNOT. You can stand 1.5l bottles though. Would recommend, just if you need to be able to stand 2l bottles in it, you'll need a bigger version.

Good little fridge, quiet and efficient. Just needs a divider
It works quite well, thermostat can be off by 1 or 2 degrees but all in all its OK, keeps cool dosent drain my car battery to much but you need to set it up at lowest setting and eco mode. That will save your battery any higher setting and it will drain it. Reason I'm giving it 4 not 5 star is that the little divider is not present. I don't need baskets but that divider would be a good idea to have. I've read the reviews and most of them looks like people misunderstand settings. When you open the app the 3 setting are for power consumption higher setting uses more power. On lowest setting it work just fine obviously you need to give it some time to cool down. What I did is I've plugged it at home first and set to max to coll it down with all the food in it over night and next day took it to my van and plugged it in and set it at lowest eco mode and it was fine. Left it on all the time, even when I was at work for 10 h and ove night run the engine for 1h in between and had no problems. All that depends on how big is your battery, smaller batter less capacity.

Excellent Quality, Super quiet, very impressive
The build quality is excellent, bought this to replace a cooler box on our boat. When it arrived, first thing I did after unpacking was to plug in the supplied 240 volt power unit and switched on, unit went from 23 degrees to zero degrees in about 45 minutes or less, then unplugged unit and then plugged into my Jackery power bank, put unit to eco mode, and set the built in battery monitor to low, set unit to 2 degrees, after 4 hours, the unit only consumed 13 percent battery power, extremely impressive, also downloaded the Alpicool app, which connects via Bluetooth, very impressive to the information on the app, constantly monitoring temperature. Very impressed with the built-in led light in the unit, and also the supplied basket fir food storage. Only negative fir me was the delivery time, I ordered on the 10 th August , and if I ordered within 4 hours I would receive the unit by the 12th of August, this never happened, instead had an expected delivery between the 1st and 18th September, unit arrived 31st August, no explanation from Amazon fir the delay, I suspect it maybe because of demand, due to the heatwaves. I did contact Amazon customer services to try and change expected delivery to after the 18th, as I would be out of the country until the 19th, unfortunately they couldn't, but luckily unit arrived before I left UK, don't know if Amazon had anything to do with delivery, but if they did, then well done, apart from delivery delay, I'm extremely impressed with unit.

Cools quick, low noise, quite beige
Can someone explain what's the point of the ruler in the lid?? We've had this a year now and taken on many camping trips and it's been great. Enough space for a small family (unless you are chilling loads of beers!). Im a bit wary plugging into the car as it did drain the battery pretty quickly, but it's been very reliable, cools quickly and is very quiet. Not sure I love the 70s beige colour but it makes it quite unassuming in a tent.

Good fridge, rubbish backup
The fridge has been good but is only 11 months old and has now stopped working, customer service is non existent and Iโve not had any response from 3 attempts now to get this fixed. I would recommend the fridge but canโt due to lack of backup!
