Simply wonderful
Love it to bits. Definitely a sound improvement anywhere, agreed it doesn't hit the same as a 12" but that's not what you buy this for. You buy this for solid good sound quality and power but hidden somewhere tucked away. Could be cheaper of course but for the happiness it's brought me over the past few months I don't really care

Nice DEEP bass and doesn't take up much space
The 'Premium' sound system in my 10th-gen Honda Civic is nice, but there's almost no bass once you get going - it's there but it gets drowned out by road noise. I wanted to hear the bass in my music, but not deafen myself, rattle the number plate or win any SPL competitions. After much searching, I settled on the TS-WX70DA powered sub from Pioneer. Reasons for choosing this over all the others: * Very slim - only 97mm (3 7/8 ") thick. * Only 850mm wide - fits perfectly between the rear wheel arches in a Civic * Wanted to keep the spare tyre space free - I might yet buy the space-saver spare tyre kit (UK spec Civics only come with the tyre inflation gunk/compressor combo). * Class D amp - only needs a 10A (~140W) power connection to get 100W RMS. I can take 180W from the rear cigarette lighter socket. In contrast, the Pioneer TS-WX610A spare tyre sub needs a 'proper' dedicated power supply running from the battery. * All black - doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. * 2 x 6.5" drivers and a folded horn reflex enclosure - gives out some decent accentuating bass, and it's LOW. You can hear right down to the bottom bass notes on most Drum & Bass / Dance music. There are two 'modes' on the sub's remote - 'Deep' and 'Dynamic'. IMO the 'Dynamic' mode sounds rubbish. If you look at the published frequency response curve, they've put this enormous camel's hump around 70Hz, which happens to be where Honda decided to do the same thing in the factory sound system's built-in DSP. Consequence: Hooty, muffly, wuffly bass with no bottom end. I only use the 'Deep' setting and it sounds great. Have a look at the attached jpeg for install ideas. The sub takes line-level or speaker-level inputs via the same RCA/phono sockets. Even with the 'gain' control on the remote turned as low as it can go (without actually being muted) there was still too much bass. I had to put a 2K2 potentiometer as a potential divider in the input signal wiring to the sub, and I've got it set to about 20% from the bottom. I posted some pics of my install on the Civicx forum but Amazon won't let me link to it. Go search on that site if you're interested.

Easy to install - sounds great - recommended
Bloody brilliant - if you ignore the nay sayers who compare/expect this subwoofer to blow your windows out like a custom multi 18" Woofer - Boot filling - monster subwoofer system. This is more BOSE / SONOS in its approach - Small, Flexible and Extremely Powerful for its size.. This is easy to install, takes up very little space in your boot, and packs a great punch. It totally transformed the car stereo with tight, punchy low-end frequencies (Not earth shattering - just really great bass at typical-to-loud volumes (ie: every day driving is now sonically fantastic as the full range of frequencies can be heard and in some cases felt!) Do not buy this if you are chasing ear shattering BASS - you need to spend a LOT more and sacrifice your boot space too... however if you are past your teenage years, and are looking to add some BASS to your current car system.. this is a really good, practical and effective solution... again think of this as a BOSE / SONOS / HEOS / APPLEPOD / ALEXA ECHO SUB - a powerful, effective and highly tuned/designed solution that sounds fantastic.

Its not a competition Sub
This sub works well with my cars factory fitted sound system. It's not going to give earth shattering bass but it's just right. My car's a Mercedes Coupe and came with a 6.5" frontbass sub which in all honesty just didn't cut it. There are 2 modes of operation on the Pioneer sub- deep and dynamic. Dynamic works well for punchy music like house, Hiphop and pop. Deep works well with music that goes down quite low such as the Migos. There's a variable crossover that works well for my system at about 90hz. There is a phase switch that's very useful in my case because of the interaction with existing sub when using the different modes. Deep works with phase inverted, dynamic works with phase in the normal position. The thing I like about this sub is its efficiency, it can run on 10 amps with means can can pretty much use the cigarette lighter feed for power. I used the high output from my front left speaker to feed the amp and this seems to work just fine. Once installed the sub takes up very little room and the boot is still use able. I would highly recommend this sub and suggest you give yourself reasonable time to install it especially if your car is very modern. You will need the control nearby because both modes don't work for all types of music in my opinion. I generally leave it in dynamic for my house mix tapes and deep for modern Hiphop.

Stunning for the size.
Installed this in the boot of my Mini R56 JCW. Fitting wise, as you can see from my pictures, it looks like it was 'made to measure' for the Mini. Fits absolutely perfectly! Sound wise, it's incredible. Exceptional bass for the size of the unit, brings a much needed realism to a wide variety of musical tastes. Playing Leftfield, Daft Punk, Eminem etc, the music comes 'alive' with this sub. The wired remote control is a bonus and makes fine tuning adjustments, from the drivers seat, a 'breeze'. 100% recommended, I'm thrilled with it!

Only buy for small vehicles. Not effective enough in larger cars.
This was a bad buy for a range rover, made very little difference to the existing sound. Not worth the fitting or the outlay. This is perhaps suited to very small cars

I installed this as part of a full maker over sound system for a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I pretty much ripped every stock component (Factory front 6 3/4" and tweeter, Speaker Bar 6 3/4" and tweeter). I used a 10.2" Dasaita Head Unit with NVW 5 Channel Amp (did not buys those on Amazon), and did purchase the Pioneer TS-WX70DA powered amplifier along with JBL GTO609C Component Mid-Woofer & Tweeter that I installed in the front pods and rear overhead Soundbar. About the Pioneer TS-WX70DA powered sub-woofer: Dislikes: The instructions are pretty basic without any real technical information. And there is nothing really available on Google despite the fact that this powered sub-woofer has been available for several years. Strange. That is really all that I was not too impressed with in terms of the Pioneer TS-WX70DA. Likes: It's solid, and has some heft to it. It came really well packaged in a thick cardboard box with plenty of styrofoam protection. I installed the unit on the backside of my rear seats, with the included straps and brackets. So basically it is "hanging" from the back top side of the rear passenger seats. It holds and stays in place with the straps, I was surprised it would, but it works. And it's out of the way (very minimal trunk space intrusion). I used the line outputs from my rear speakers, as per the Youtube Video from Pioneer (you can hook it up to any vehicle) which didn't tell you how, but it pretty basic in nature. So the unit is tapping in to the rear soundbar JBL Component Speakers, and it works without creating any "issues" or affecting the soundbar speakers. Bass is bass, and whether you get it from line outputs from factory speakers or the RCA output the quality of the sound is pretty much the same to my ears. After hooking up everything, I must say the quality and the type of bass is really, really satisfying. It hits, it fills up the bottom end, it doesn't rattle license plates, and to me it doesn't tire you out listening at high volume levels (depending on whether you activate the bass boost or not) . I love it, I really really love it. The amount of bass and frequency is adjustable to suit any music type. I love the quality of the bass, and does what a subwoofer should do and that it integrates itself to the overall speaker system doing it's part and not overpowering. Powering on the Head Unit does not cause any "noise" or blips or pops, the Pioneer is an Excellent piece and quality component. For what you get, and how well it works, it's music to my ears. It doesn't rob you of valuable trunk space and it produces satisfying and fulfilling bottom end. I do believe there is nothing in this price range that combines Sub Woofer and Amplifier in one, and performs this well with the inherit design advantage of not taking up a lot of space. It's a home run, and on Amazon at this price, you can't go wrong. If I could give it 5+ stars, I would.
