Bad Blood

Bad Blood is simply stunning. First up, there's the magnificent 'Pompeii', followed by the brilliant 'Things We Lost In The Fire', oh and then there's........hey, wait a minute....I'll just end up quoting the entire track listing cos they're all absolutely fantastic! (However, 'Overjoyed' is a particular favourite which is just beautiful.) This has got to be one of the best albums I've ever listened to and I've been into music for around 30 years I guess now. A thoroughly enjoyable 44 minutes well worthy of the purchase. Lets hope the boys next produce something to equal, if not surpass, this one. Can't wait!

After hearing Pompeii, Flaws, Things We Lost in the Fire and a couple more tracks over the last couple of years, I decided I wanted to hear more from this new to me band. I ordered the cd a couple of days ago and since its delivery this morning I haven't stopped playing it. Not one track disappoints, my kind of music for sure, love the voice, the percussion, the way every song is a story. Buy it, you won't regret it.

To be honest, I would've paid for Other People's Heartaches too. I got into Bastille a few weeks back. I loved their covers a lot and downloaded Bad Blood at first. I loved it so much, I had to buy it of course. Bad Blood is such a solid compilation and I find myself replaying the album over and over again. I walk to class with it on, I put the CD on in the car-- I listen to it whenever I can. The only other band that does that to me is Florence + The Machine. Spectacular work by the boys, I can't recommend Bastille enough.

This album is all in all pretty good. From emotional soaring melodies such as 'Overjoyed' to quirky ballads such as 'Flaws' it brings an interesting sound to the table. I can't help but feel Bastille rather overplayed their hand in the lead-up to this album, on first listen I had already heard 6 of the 13 songs. It left it feeling more like a collection of singles than a complete album. Perhaps some tracks should have been left as singles too as it feels like the album has tried to get to many different sounds into one space. There are, however some excellent moments. 'Weight of living, Pt I' and 'These Streets' harp back to the original quirkiness and excellent melodies that first caught audience's attention in 'Flaws'. Some of the lyrics are a little bit bland or un-inventive which brings me to my final summary. All in all this a a good, solid debut with soaring melodies and well crafted music to back it up. It is slightly let down by the fact it seems some-what unrefined for an album that was a fair while in the making. Very enjoyable.

Its a fantastic album. Usually on an album you tend to love the tracks you know and the rest takes a bit of time to get to like. This album is fantastic, only one track that doesn;t do it for me, I'm 55 yrs and probably shouldn't have even heard of Bastille, let alone be amazed at their music. My son played it a lot I normally hate his choice in "music" he's 16. I recorded them live at music fest in Ireland a few wks ago, they are also brilliant "LIVE" Best album I've heard in years!

I only received this album today and I literally can't switch it off. Every single track is filled with superb meaningful lyrics accompanied by unbelievably deep layers of cleverly written music and backing vocals. I would say most of the albums I have bought in recent years have had 3-5 good tracks on. This is something else! Look at it this way - I am writing this review at 1.30am and I have work tomorrow but I had to switch the computer on especially to get this off my chest - imagine Kasabien, Coldplay and Munford and sons rolled in to one and multiply it by 100and it still doesn't tell you how good this is! Next album please!!

I'd been waiting for Bastille to release an album for what seemed like an eternity and Bad Blood certainly did not disappoint at all! It's one of those albums where there isn't one bad song on it, not even the one where sometimes you're like "hmm nah can't be bothered with this one today". It's a truly brilliant album, well mastered with some songs such as Laura Palmer and Icarus having been remastered from their original releases. Totally worth a purchase, you won't be disappointed!

A strong album from beginning to end, there isn't really a track I don't like and I've been playing it in the car for weeks without changing the CD. My 8 year old loves it too. I've read a couple of reviews in the press that don't rate Bastille, "too commercial", "not original", "more of the same" and I think that they are being unfair, Bastille's music is of a certain genre, but the tunes are strong, the topics are original and the production is excellent. If you like Snow Patrol, Kasabian, Coldplay or the Stone Roses then you are probably going to enjoy this.

Esté sin duda fue una de las mejores entregas del 2013, la primera entrega de esté grupo donde sin duda dejaron una buena impresión a nivel internacional. Pompeii es solo una canción mas, ya que todo el disco contiene temas igual ó mejores.

Vinile strepitoso!!! Le 12 tracce che lo compongono sono TUTTE straordinarie! Lo si ascolta milioni di volte e non stufa mai. Musica particolare, a tratti tribale, innovativa e bellissima! La qualità del vinile vale i soldi spesi, suoni profondi che incantano. Anche a volume generoso il suono è limpido e graffiante. Sono assolutamente soddisfatta dell'acquisto e lo consiglio caldamente! Rispetto alle tracce digitali il vinile restituisce mille volte il suono rendendo i pezzi unici, anche con un giradischi vecchiotto come il mio.

Parfait

Bastille is apt to draw comparisons to contemporary acts like The Fray and OneRepublic, but thematically they are also reminiscent of '80s greats like The Fixx, INXS (before they went too mainstream) and Midnight Oil. I am puzzled by reviewers that say it all sounds too much the same, as this album boasts more musical variety across its 15 tracks than I've heard in quite some time. Tribal choral vocals, xylophones, occasional orchestration, and electronic flourishes merge in wonderful synergy with more traditional rock instrumentation. Some tunes (like the irresistibly energetic "Pompeii," "Icarus" and "Laura Palmer") are punchy and bursting with enthusiasm, while others are more driving and deliberate ("Laughter Lines" and "These Streets" -- should appeal to fans of Imagine Dragons). The ballads ("Overjoyed" and "Get Home") resemble some of the better work by Matt Kearney. There is a curious tension at play in many of these carefully-crafted songs, as the music surges and soars across infectious beats while the lyrics tend to have an undeniably gloomy and dark aspect (see, e.g., the two parts of "Weight of Living"). This tension is evident in "Pompeii" as well -- a bit like R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World As We Know It (and I Feel Fine)." Although the title interpreted literally applies to the ancient Italian tragedy, the lyrics could just as easily be about 9/11, America's misguided Middle Eastern Odyssey in its wake, and back to banking business as usual. Nothing changed at all. How am I gonna be an optimist about this? Simple: express my gratitude that there are outstanding musicians like Bastille out there telling it like it is.
