5.11Tactical RUSH72 Military Backpack, Molle Bag Rucksack Pack, 55 Liter Large, Style 58602

I just purchased this bag to replace a large ALICE pack I was using as a bug out bag. This pack is a lot better. It fit everything I had in the ALICE pack. This pack also provides for more organization which is good in an emergency situation. I am even surprised at how well this pack allows one to get organized. There are pockets galore in this pack. Even though this pack is tactical in nature, it is a lot less tactical than the bag I replaced. I bought the storm gray color, and it is fairly subdued. I should be able to blend in whether I am in an urban or woodland environment. My pack loaded out is 40 pounds, and it feels comfortable to wear with that weight. As far as the bag itself, it is great quality. All of the stitching is flawless. The material feels durable, and nothing seems stressed even though my pack is really packed full. The zippers are great quality and they travel easily. I will more than likely replace the fabric pulls on my bag with 550 cord. Either way, the zippers can be stored at the middle of the pack and tied together so that they don't come open during a hike. Before I purchased this pack, I was stuck trying to decide if I wanted this bag or the Condor 3 Day Assault Pack. I am glad I chose this bag over the Condor pack. I heard good things about both bags, but this one seems like it is better made. I am very pleased with this pack, and I think I made the right decision. The only real negative I heard about this bag is that it doesn't fit people that are above a certain height. I am 5'11" and weigh 195 pounds. This pack fits me great!

This backpack has been my go to for over a year now, so I feel comfortable reviewing it. As a college student, this backpack is mainly used for my laptop, books, binders, and every possible accessory I could need (pens, chargers, adapters, cables, etc). This backpack can hold a ton; 15" HP Zbook (workstation laptop, thick), 3-4 1" binders, 2-3 large textbooks is what I usually lug around in the main compartment. In the front pocket, I carry a plethora of display adapters and USB hubs, tons of cables (USB, lightning, HDMI), a large charging brick for the laptop, a calculator, and whatever other cables I may need. the large side compartments can hold dual stacked waterbottles/energy drinks, rolled up jackets and even camera tripods. The top pocket can fit a pair of headphones without issue. The "stuff pouch" in between the two pockets works perfect for boots. The build quality of the backpack is outstanding. I use it day in and day out, and I have never noticed any tears or rips. I have loaded this up with 50-60lbs and lifted it by one strap and never noticed any sort of tearing. It handles rain with little issue, drys quickly, and keeps your stuff dry. I don't regularly use the MOLLE straps but I occasionally load them up with full nalgenes, have never had an issue with tearing. I consider this backpack a fantastic value as I would have gone through 3-4 cheaper backpacks by now. The layout is really smart, with plenty of pockets for organization. I can find a place for just about anything I can fit in here, and quickly grabbing stuff is a breeze. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this backpack as a daily driver. Its well built, well organized and extremely practical.

This is my second backpack, and before you say "if its durable why did you get a second one" well its because i wanted one in a different color. My first one is FDE and i have had it since 2011, it has been with me to over 22 countries and multiple hiking trails, rock climbing adventures and endured the harsh environment of afghanistan. It has not suffered any damage except that i crushed the chest buckle in an armored door to a helicopter. the second one is grey and still looks brand new except the little leather pads on the back to keep them from moving around on you. they are a little worn down, and its understandable as ive done a lot of trail walking and some running with this backpack. Great backpack, Very worth the price to me, and it can hold a ton of things and tons of weight. I had electronics and souvenirs and change from visiting various countries the weight of coins adds up insanely fast in it and its never even come close to tearing at the straps The second one is Grey and it still looks like brand new

I've been searching for months trying to find a good backpack for a three day outing. Finally it came down to this or the Kelty Redwing, but ultimately I went with this bag. I have to echo everything others have said with regard to the bags solid manufacturing, reinforced seams, adequately padded straps and tough material. What really sold me on the Rush 72 versus the Kelty was all of the organizational detail inside. There are numerous solid pockets with zippers, and open mesh pockets, with pockets sized for small items like pens, to larger items like a small axe or hatchet. I haven't yet acquired all the gear needed (times two) to go on an overnight trip, so I have yet to put the pack to actual use. For a momentary moderately weighted test fitting, I was pleased the bag's weight rode correctly on my hips, and that the waist band and shoulder straps padding felt appropriately thick. I also liked the pack's internal support structure, as it seemed to help distribute the weight sufficiently. Until I hike a few miles with the Rush 72 loaded to the gills however, I can only hope the pack will still feel comfortable. One regret I did have, is that the sternum strap isn't adjustable vertically, so it felt on my experimental fittings like it was close to choking me. The only other negative I noticed was inside one of the side pockets, where the stitching went across a little fold of the pocket, preventing it from fully opening. When you buy mass produced products, little mishaps like these are going to slip through quality control, so I wasn't really bothered. I'd chosen the color grey to stay low key, but ultimately I just didn't care for it. But with the pocket issue and my color indecisiveness, I elected to return the bag for another. My boyfriend decided he liked the bag, so we ended up keeping it for him and ordering me another one. Sigh. If I only knew back then how such a seemingly simple process could turn into such an ordeal, I might've just kept this bag. But that saga will have to continue in the review for the next Rush 72 I ordered for myself. :( Update edit: Duh. I can't make another separate review as all the reviews are combined for the different colors. As if the different colors didn't warrant separate reviews. I beg to differ! As mentioned above, I did immediately order another Rush 72 in Sandstone for myself. (I beg your patience here as I have a question for you, gentle readers, and I sincerely hope to hear from anyone who does own this backpack in Sandstone. Because the pack I received had a tag that said "Sandstone", but the bag was green! Unmistakeably OD green like fatigue's the military used to issue until they got silly with their computer chosen camouflage. I and my boyfriend are older military veterans and thus very familiar with OD green. 5.11 calls the color Tac OD and by their product photos my new "Sandstone" pack just had to be mislabeled! Grrr. I phoned 5.11 Customer Service directly, and the rep agreed "Sandstone" should be a light brown color. Shortly thereafter I got my Return Authorization from Amazon and back the bag went. Just to be safe, as some of Amazon's sellers are shady, I purchased the next bag directly from 5.11. And...it too was OD Green with a "Sandstone" tag. The color sandstone to me is evocative of, well, sand. 5.11's product photos of the "Sandstone" bag on their site appear definitively khaki or sand colored on both my Window PC and boyfriend's Android phone, as well as my iPad Air 2, which ruled out color saturation differences across varying devices. With this unwanted green bag, I'm still thinking a gross mistake has occurred and accordingly I return the bag again. And with much gnashing of teeth (and maybe a little foot stomping), I open "Sandstone" pack number two and find it also vividly green! Desperately wanting a true sand color, I rinse and repeat the whole process, and of course the third "Sandstone" bag was also OD green! Aaaaauuuuggghhhh! Sorry, I need to take a deep breath here. ::inhale-count to five-exhale:: There. The rage wave is receding... My third bag was returned and I'm trying one last time to get a 5.11 Rush 72 bag in a color I like. Only THIS time I'm ordering the Dark Earth color from Amazon and saving some money. Hmph. I just checked something on the 5.11 website while updating this review and there is a new photo of their "Sandstone" bag, only now it appears OD green; albeit not as vivid a green as the actual product. Nor is the bag anywhere close to the prior khaki hue they had pictured for "Sandstone" previously! (If you're interested compare Amazon's Sandstone color, as their photos haven't been changed like 5.11s.)

Measurements... You can look them up. The bag is big. You can probably get away with it as a carry-on if you don't fill it too much, but pack full and it's a toss up. It is thick and heavy, with many compartments.... Almost too many. It would be great for a 3 day road trip. It would make a great 3 day bug out bag. All the MOLLE everywhere is awesome and allow for attachments to the back and sides and straps if you want to go full-on dooms-day zombie hunter. The ability to customize to a zillion add-ons is awesome and also awesome for the sellers of attachable MOLLE stuff! The cons is that it is heavy, and probably too big for many uses, but I guess that's what the 12 and 24 are for. I can see it getting heavy and wet outdoors in a rainy environment. As a 3 day travel bag or bug-out bag it is more than capable. I love it as a travel bag. For hiking and backpacking, and surviving under long distance trek conditions, a specific backpacking bag for this scenario is much better, and much lighter. Don't take this one on the AT. Overall it's a cool, fun, comfortable, and durable bag! But bulky.

This is my second 5.11 bag, I also have the Rush 24 that I have been using as my work bag for the last year. I loved the 24 and wanted a larger bag to use as a camping go-bag. My truck camping go-bag functions to keep small camping items like paracord, emergency personal gear, clothes for 3 days, jacket, hat, gloves, electronics bag, toiletries, emergency TP, and so on. This bag is huge. It has plenty of space for tons of gear. The outer stuff space between the front admin area and the main compartment works perfect for a jacket. These bags are heavy duty and quality materials. I almost went with a cheaper bag, but I have been so happy with my Rush 24 that I knew I wouldn’t regret spending the money on this one. You really do have to pay for quality. The hip strap is decent. The molle works as expected. I would recommend this bag if you need a very large capacity bag, and I would recommend the 24 if you want a big-normal size backpack.

So far I am loving this backpack. I use it every day as a heavy-duty commuter (bike) bag as well as travel bag. I love how large it is and how well it fits everything I need. Other larger backpacks I've owned have been to long in the vertical direction (hard to bike or travel with), but this one is not. I much prefer how this bag distributes it's volume, whether full or nearly empty, compared to every other bag I've had. It's many specific features are excellent! I especially like having the fold between the two main compartments (the kangaroo compartment?) for stashing wet/sticky/gross items that I do not want to put inside my bag. I could go on and on about all of it's features that I like, but I won't. The two drawbacks I have---for my uses---are the comfort of the straps, and the drain-wholes in the bottom of the bag. (1) Traveling with it for long periods with a heavy load starts to wear on my shoulders, but the bag is worth it---although I would NOT use it as a hiking backpack for extended treks. (2) I don't mind the drain whole for the water bladder compartment, but in the main compartment allowing water in/out is a problem, not an asset, so instead I sealed them with a combination of of duct tape (from the outsite) and thermoplastic/glue gun (from the inside). With that easy fix, I can say it's basically the perfect bag for me!

Great quality pack. It’s has so many pockets. It’s got lot pockets inside of pockets which are inside of other pockets. You gotta make sure you remember where you put everything, get a system going, because if you’re looking at it all packed up and thinking “damn where I put the pen”, well you’re gonna be going a lot of pockets to find it. They say it’s not for hiking because it’s a more sturdy pack, thus heavier material, and hiking packs are thin af. But you could hike in this. Easy. If the difference in weight of this and a “hiking pack” is too much for you to carry for 3 days, you best probably not be hiking and away from emergency rooms for 3 days in the place.

Come da aspettative, zaino molto robusto, ottima fattura, spazioso senza essere ingombrante, pieno di tasche ben disposte e ben realizzate. Sono alto 1,75m e lo zaino si adatta bene, le fasce in vita riescono a distribuire parte del peso alle anche. Lo zaino é molto comodo anche pieno, certo come in tutti gli zaini bisogna distribuire bene i pesi, ma una volta fatto questo, non ci sono problemi. Il sistema MOLLE é una manna per aggiunte quali un kit di pronto soccorso o una borsa EDC. Molto soddisfatto dell'acquisto, spero di testarlo presto a fondo in trekking di più giorni.

Der Rücksack ist .... \ - . - / - etwas schwer, selbst wenn er leer ist, also nichts für Leute mit schwachen Rücken oder die nicht gerne was schweres tragen möchten, oder sehr lange unterwegs sind, da empfehle ich ehr einen normalen Rucksack. - Wenn man mit einem militärischen Rucksack herumläuft wird man schon was seltsam angeschaut, liegt aber nicht am Rucksack ehr an den Leuten und falls man Dokumente hat, sollte man in das Fach ganz hinten reinlegen noch vor dem Rückenschutz, da wo die Wasserblase reinkommt. + Der Rucksack ist unzerstörbar + Es passt sehr, sehr viel rein, die Liter Angabe dazu gibt da ein völlig falsches Bild, ich hatte einen Dakine Rucksack mit 20 Liter mehr angegeben und da hat aber nur ca. die Hälfte davon reingepasst wie in den Rush72. + Der Rucksack ist bequem auch wenn es sicher noch besser geht und man kann den Rucksack ohne bedenken sehr schwer belasten. + Das Molle System ist klasse man kann sehr viele Sachen am Rucksack packen, wie Handschuhe, Schlüssel, Buskarte, Multitool u.s.w. + In den Seitentaschen passt locker eine 1,25 Liter Flasche Cola rein, denke auch 1,5 Liter hab ich aber noch nicht ausprobiert. + Das Fach das für einen Helm vorgesehen ist, ist auch klasse für alles was man ganz schnell einfach wegpacken möchte, wenn man dazu noch was an die Molle macht kann dies sogar sehr lang und groß sein. + Man kann alles super organisieren es gibt genügend Fächer und in dem großen Fach passt 6 X 1,25 Liter Cola Pack rein und man hat noch genügend Platz neben dem Pack (so was wie Tunfisch Dosen oder eine weiter Flasche) und über dem Pack ca. 30% Platz für Lebensmittel rein zu packen, um eine gute Vorstellung vom Fassungsvermögen zu geben, hab auch einen kleinen PC rein bekommen MiniTower und dies wäre dann nur das große Fach, wenn der Rucksack so schwer beladen ist, zieht er ein wenig nach hinter, aber nicht so sehr das man nur gebückt herumlaufen müsste. + Die Gurte sind gut gepolstert und angenehm selbst bei schweren Gewicht, das Rückenteil ist auch angenehm und lüftet auch ein wenig, aber man schwitzt schon etwas am Rücken. + Der Rucksack ist Wasserabweisend und selbst im starken Regen hat man kein Problem, aber er ist nicht Wasserdicht, man sollte ihn nicht abstellen wenn dort Wasser steht, der Stoff ist sehr dick zerreißen wird da nichts, die Nähte sind auch sehr gut verarbeitet bei sehr viel Gewicht bleibt alles da, wo es hingehört. + Dazu noch die 2 vordere Fächer wo sehr viel Kleinkram bis hin zu Erste Hilfe rein passt und oben nochmal ein Fach für die Sonnenbrille, wo auch eine dicke Herrengeldbörse reinpasst oder ein Handy, aber nur eins von den Sachen. Finde der Preis ist zwar hoch aber durch die Qualität mehr als gerechtfertigt, denke der hält auch ein Leben lang wenn man den etwas pflegt und sauber hält.

I bought this grey pack as a present for my other half as she was so envious of my black rush 72. This pack is bomb proof. You can get enough clothes and gear to go away for a few days, plus a laptop and all my electrical devices. The pack is very comfortable and we'll thought through.

This backpack is very nice with many different pockets to organize everything into. When my boyfriend and I bought it for him we both thought that it may arrive and be too big of a backpack but it turned out to be the perfect size for him. He is 5'11" which is fairly average and this backpack fits him perfectly. There is also a number of Molle attachments available for this type of bag, though most will not match the color but that isn't a reason to back away from this backpack at all. I would highly reccomend it to anyone looking for a good quality bag that will last for years to come.

La mochila, es MUY grande, por más que uno le mete cosas no se llena (aunque eso se verá en el peso total de la mochila), tiene muchas areas para acomodar desde pequeños a medianos y grandes objetos, la parte trasera tiene un alma de aluminio lo cual hace que la mochila no se este "desmayando", en lo personal solo le puse recubrimiento de teflón (3M) y dura siempre limpia así como se le resbala muy bien el agua. No puedo decir si es a prueba de agua como dicen, pero le compré una funda a prueba de agua con lo que ahora si es totalmente impermeable. La calidad de la mochila no se pone ni en duda, ya que yo al menos no le encontré defectos o detalles de terminado. Es una mochila tal vez no de uso diario, para eso remiendo la RUSH24, pero para un fin de semana es lo mejor.
