Has anyone else had an issue with the top strap digging into your foot and creating a little wound? I’m not sure if I should wait till they soften.

Maybe your strap is too tight. You should be able to put a finger between the strap and your foot. Since you already have tenderness, put some moleskin on the strap until your skin feels better. Hope this helps.
