A great quality product
This is the 2nd one I bought so highly recommend There is very little mess as it’s already mixed so very easy to use, I must add that you do need to wet the surface first and add a very small amount of water when using. Colour is great and the container is airtight so if you don’t use it all at once you can keep it remaining aside. It’s so durable, I have used my fire place several times since using this product so I highly recommend

Challenging to work with
I've bought lots of this stuff (eight or ten large pots). I'm building a fire pit in the garden so I've used it for the fire bricks to ensure it's up to the temperature. Rather that being like mortar it has the consistency of putty so it's difficult to work with tidily. If you wet your tools it's less likely to stick to them and it does seem to make it less viscous. Then again I'm not a bricklayer so that may be down to me. The other issue is that it dries through evaporation (rather than a chemical reaction which is what cement does) so it can take a long time to dry, especially in lower temperatures and in areas such as between bricks in a circle where these is a segment shaped section of mortar. Effectively, thick sections take a long time to dry, weeks or more. Then there is a curing process that involves gradually increasing the temperature over hours, which may not work with a fire lit in direct contact with it so I may have to do a curing burn with the fire in a metal bowl held away from the surface.

Quality
Really good quality & very good price compared with what can be obtained locally. Like others the tub was burst on arrival but had been wrapped by Royal mail in a polythene bag which stopped any drying of the material. Good service both by the supplier & Royal mail.

Make sure you're aware of what you're doing first!
PARTIALLY Suitable for both high temperature reducing atmosphere burners, IE; Steel, Iron and copper furnaces for forging, however as the operating temperature is above the safe temperature for this product, so regular replacement is required but with vigilance it is a good liner for a forge. It's adhesiveness to most surfaces is poor, requiring persistence. A tip I found was to add a spoonfull of water into the bucket prior to application to loosen the cement you're applying, just be warned you will want to add atleast another 24 hours to the curing time. What really SHOULD be in the application information is to light a small fire and gradually raise the temperature to your working temperature, give it time to soak to dry fully. For the price you're buying it for, it is very good. It's not perfect, but anything specialised is expensive. Good for a stove, chimney all the way to a furnace. Get cementing ladies and gents

Nice to use, stores well too
Really sturdy pot, keeps the cement useable for absolutely ages if you reseal the lid properly. Nice consistency too, easy to work when you're up to your elbow in pipe bend.

Effective considering how I used it
I bought this back in July 2023, only 10kg for a outdoor fire pit so I applied a pretty thin layer on the inside, it was exposed to rain, people pushing against it aswell as pretty extreme heat and several colonies of ants, lasted about a year which honestly wasn't bad considering the beating it took. Just used 40kg of it more thoroughly this time so I'll give an update on how it holds up. I would recommend adding a splash of water to it before using, as it can be a bit thick to spread around

Product is good, but adhesion to ceramic fire wool is not.
I made a mini furnace from helium cylinder, and lined it with ceramic fireproof thermal wool (25mm thick). I then used the fire cement to go over the top of that for a nice hard smooth finish. All was well, using water on my hands to make the cement more pliable, like a clay. I gave it the required heat to harden. Unfortunately the "looseness" of the wool just provides too much movement and the cement cracks and then falls away after just one firing. I am happy to hear of any other suggestions aout how i can keep the stuff to stay on the wool.

Pessimo risultato!
