Vetark Aqua-Sed

Colin, the Winning Fish, sadly went to the great pond in the sky today. He outlived his tank mates by a good few years, and much like the story of Tithonus started to become cursed by immortality as he swam alone. He was a good and faithful goldfish, with never a bad word to say about anyone although his health started to fail him after 11 and a half years of distance swimming. We were going to replace his tank and stand with a bookcase in his honour, but to be honest he was never much of a reader so we will erect the Colin Memorial Drinks Cabinet in his memory instead. Swim free little buddy, Wiv da angler fish now.🐟 The Aqua Sed helped him cross the little plastic rainbow bridge in the bottom of the great tank of all existence in a dignified and painless way. He slipped away gently and painlessly before being reunited with his tank mates at the bottom of the garden. I would recommend as a humane way of sending the fish on that one way trip to Switzerland. Some reviews only gave 1 star as reviewers accidentally killed their fish when they meant to only sedate them. Ignore them if using as a piscicide

Having been rescuing fish for several years, most of which being goldfish that have been bred to be "pretty" but not functional leading to health issues and me having to make THAT call.. I've used several methods in previous years to do that, but this was by far the easiest, calmest and most humane. Only needed a tiny amount to get it done so I have plenty left. I'm sure it will go out of date before I manage to finish it (at least I hope I don't have to use much more any time soon!) Will also be fantastic for sedating fish who have severe wounds to clean and seal them. Will use this religiously from now on, fantastic product.

Having used clove oil for fish sedation & euthanasia in the past I ordered this product on the strength of other Amazon reviews as I needed to remove a small mouth lesion on an angelfish and wanted to be absolutely sure that I had my dosage correct. The product is very easy to use (1 pump per litre for sedation) and once introduced the fish was suitably anaesthetised within a minute or two. The fish appeared to accept the anaesthetic bath calmly without panicking and thrashing about at all. I successfully removed the lesion inside two minutes. It was good to know that, if I had no choice & the life saving procedure proved impossible, I could have simply added more Aqua Sed to the anaesthetic bath before returning the fish to it to be quietly and humanely euthanized without it ever fully waking up from the initial anaesthetic. Fortunately that wasn't necessary. Once returned to a hospital tank of fresh water the fish regained full consciousness and was swimming freely again within two or three minutes. I do not routinely leave as many Amazon reviews as I should but was so impressed with Aqua Sed and how it helped me (hopefully) save my fish I felt I must leave a review. It will certainly keep a supply of Aqua Sed to hand in future now for stress free fish anaesthetic and euthanasia.

As a person who cares deeply for any animal in my care it breaks my heart to see any of them suffering. Bouancy issues are usually untreatable in my experience and hard as I try with anti-viral medication, the end result is never positive. In the past, I've been the crazy lady who's taken a fish to the vets to be euthanised. I don't take this responsibility lightly. But fish keeping is hard and even in perfect water conditions problems arise. Thankfully not often but this time I needed a solution for a tiny cherry barb who could not swim and sat at the bottom of the tank gasping for days. After lots of research into clove oil and lots of other (some terrible) methods I found this. Used exactly as instructed 4 x the sedation dose my poorly fish peacefully went to sleep. I hated every minute of ending her life but actually felt a lot better knowing that there is a kind solution to when there's no hope. If used sensitively and properly, this is a very useful product for sensible, caring fish keepers.

Used too sedate a large koi for inspection, used sparingly and very effective. Wore of well when koi replaced in pond and stabilized

I had a large comet goldfish in my pond and it developed swim bladder problems which, unfortunately, couldn’t be cured. Initially, I was going to try clove oil to put it to sleep and then I saw this product. Ordered it Wednesday, came today (Thursday) and I used it straight away. I used 8 squirts in 2 litres of pond water and the fish passed away very peacefully within 15 minutes. The instructions said to leave it for an hour to make sure it had worked properly. This I did and I then buried the fish at the bottom of the garden. Not sure how to dispose of the water and Aqua-Sed mixture safely but have contacted Vetark about this. Not a happy subject to discuss but I would have no qualms whatsoever in using it again should the need arise.

Broke my heart having to use this stuff 💔 but it was for the best, and I'm thankful that it appears to have worked effectively, painlessly and quickly.
