It's a good amount for a double portion of whatever you want to put in there. Or if you are meal prepping you can easily fit your protein and veggies or rice in the same container for the perfect portions. These hold up well and can be rewashed for using again. I have microwaved things in them and it held up just fine. I would definitely say the sturdiness is good. I personally like the more shallow size because it fits better in the weird narrow shelves in the refrigerator.
