As he is getting older and was never one to eat hay except socially I was worried about his health. Only pellets was not going to be a lasting solution, and he was chewing on fine straw particles to get his roughage. When I offered him this, even with his occasionally sore mouth (yes he gets regular vet care) he will happily sit in the sunshine and munch again. Anything that makes his golden years pleasant for him is fantastic in my book. The quality is always there, the hay is soft, green, and easy for him to eat.
