The Holy Qur'an in Today's English Review: Very accessible translation of the Qur'an / Koran - I don't speak Arabic, so i read the Qur'an in english. I've read several translations, this is by far the best I've seen, at least for me. It conveys the spirit of the Qur'an without distracting archaic english words or grammer, letting me focus on the message. At first this modernization felt wrong to me, but then I realized: I'm reading a translation anyways! Nothing makes an archaic english translation more accurate than a modern english translation. I showed a few versus to someone who DOES speak Arabic and knows the Qur'an, she thought they were accurate (well, as accurate as you can be switching between the languages). Each Surah is prefaced by some history about when and how it was revealed. There are also footnotes which explain the context of events related to a particular verse. I found this both useful and enlightening. As a kindle book, it was very easy for me to jump between footnote and main text, which I liked. Overall, a great translation, well worth paying a few dollars for (as opposed to free Qur'an translations), and something I will continue to use! Review: A great resource to learn about the Quran - I recommend this for ANYONE that is somewhat curious about the Quran. This is a version that has been simplified to better understand the background of the Quran and its beautiful revelation. This also gives you context to the story behind the story of why, how and when these verses was revealed.

Cannot reccomend this enough for American/Western born Muslims
I LOVE this translation - it's so much easier to read than most others. I've ordered both the Kindle version and the physical book and would honestly suggest the Kindle version more. It lets you read the paragraph form translation but doesn't take up half the page with commentary - you just click on the comment number next to the end of the verse and it jumps to the commentary on a separate page. You can also favorite passages and can easily navigate from the table of contents. The translation itself is so refreshing - Br. Emerick translates very broadly (as the Quran should be) and explains why he chose certain English meanings for words over other ones - but supplies the others in the commentary for your own benefit). He translates into something any Muslim born in the Western Hemisphere can read without feeling confused or bored. I would seriously suggest this for younger Muslims as it's different than any other translation they may come across. I've given this as a gift so many of my friends and they all talk about how wonderful it is - even ones who have never read the translation before in their lives. It's honestly worth every penny!

Very accessible
The translation is easy to understand and the various footnotes and chapter (surah) introductions provide useful information and have helped me understand at a deeper level. I also appreciated the bolded headers throughout the chapters that helped me find certain topics easily. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a version of the Quran in English

Easy Read!
Easy to follow the translation. However, one always has to refer to the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) to understand the Qur'an better.

Novel Approach
Emerick has delivered a translation of the Quran that is much more approachable to the modern reader. Easy to read and filled with useful footnotes and commentary, it also gives a smattering of historical context that catches your interest. For example, I didn't know that Noah was also called Zoroaster by several subsequent civilizations. Although i think its important to familiarize yourself with a more archiac text that offers more perspective on the poetry and syntax of the Quran, this is a great book for someone looking to get to know the Quran to pick up. Its also not very big (i hear, since i have the kindle version this doesn't really matter:) so can be picked up and carried around with ease. Great to delve into when you want to refer something quickly or want a quick read of a chapter or two. I still haven't read the whole book, But the chapters i did read were well crafted and even divided into broad based subject matter in certain places

An excellent edition!
As a psychology student I am fascinated by religions and the importance they had in human evolution and adaptation to the environment. I finally found with this version a un-biased edition with factual historical background that helps to put the book in prospective. I am not a religious person and as I understand to truly appreciate the "The Holy Qur'an" you must read it in the original language but this English version is extremely well written by an Islamic scholar from the US making it a solid translation. The reason for reading an Holy Book are personal but this version for the faithful and for the people simply wanting to learn more about Islam is a great starting point assuming you do not speak Arabic.

Beautifully Put Together
Clear and to the point! Wonderful explanation/translation of Qur'an in English. However, book is big and bulky(Which I knew prior to purchasing.)Have your reading glasses handy. Text is on the small side. Overall, this English Qur'an is excellent!

This is the 5th Quran translation I've read and it is simplist to understand. Written in today's English. The beginning section (life of the Prophet Mohammed PBUH)is crucial in understanding the Quran. After reading this section I understood so much more.
