NF-A9 FLX

I replaced a Synology DS119 with a DS220+ The DS119 was VERY quiet. In comparison the DS220+ is noticeably louder. I'm using with SSDs so the only sound is the fan. So I replaced it with the excellent Noctua NF-A9 FLX fan which is a real premium quality fan. However on the default quiet fan mode setting in the DS220+ control panel the fan struggled to work. It would start off fine but eventually just stop moving. This was true in the medium fan speed setting on the DS220+ However in the maximum fan speed setting it worked fine but was much noiser than the original fan set up! The Noctua fan comes with two speed attenuator cables: Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) Ultra-Low-Noise Adaptor (U.L.N.A.) I tried it with the low noise cable and it worked fine and was quieter. I tried the Ultra low noise cable and that worked too and was super quiet. I stuck with the ultra low noise cable and the DS220+ has been running for a day now with no fan issues and the temperature inside the case is nice and cool. Varies between 30 and 39 degrees. In terms of noise the set up is marginally quieter than the Synology fan. The Synology fan had a very minor rattle. The Noctua is super smooth with no rattle. Its not silent but its pretty quiet.

I had been experiencing an episodic (and erroneous) fan error on my DS218 which was only solvable by setting the fan to max speed, a solution which was unacceptable due to the noise it created. I replaced initially with another generic fan but the error recurred so took a gamble on replacing again with this more expensive fan. Happy to say it has solved the issue completely. This is clearly a premium product and comes with a number of leads and much better construction quality. I installed with the supplied ultra low noise adaptor (which slows the fan down) but put the synology DSM setting on full fan speed. I have had no error messages on the synology in the 48 hours since install (I was getting them hourly previously) and the fan is pretty much silent. Its also doing a good job at keeping my drives cool at 30c.

I purchased this Noctua NF-A9 FLX fan for my Synology DS215j NAS to replace the installed fan which had developed a noise. Even when this NAS is in sleep mode the fan still runs so it was becoming quite noticeable in a quiet room. I've purchased a few Noctua fans in the past and they are great quality products. This fan came with a nice selection of accessories, including some low noise adaptors, a 4 pin molex to 3 pin power adapter, a 30cm extension cable and some anti-vibration silicone mounts. I didn't need any of the extra accessories but it's a nice bonus and will make useful spares. After fitting the fan into the NAS it's nearly silent now - I would go as far as to say it is quieter than it was from new! I can feel the air being pushed out the back so even though it's very quiet it's still providing excellent air flow. This fan comes with a 6 year warranty which goes to show how much confidence Noctua have in their products. The colour scheme is definitely not to everyone's tastes but as this fan is inside the NAS and not on show it's not a problem. Highly recommended.

I purchased a couple of these to replace the stock fans in Synology DS920+ NAS box. The stock fans were pretty noisy, even on quite, but after replacing them with 2 of these Noctua NF-A9s the NAS is now very quiet and I have to check to make sure it is on! If you are interested in how to replace the fans in a DS920 then go to YouTube and search for "replace sinology ds920+ fans". The #1 result for me was by "Max McEvan" and was the tutorial I followed. Fan arrived well-packed, seems well-made, is reasonably quiet and produces a good airflow. Its used to draw air from within a full tower case that is discharged out of the back of the case. The fan is mounted above the power supply unit. See the Noctua website for details of the fan.

Great fan as all Noctua fans usually are. Small issue was that I could not use this fan to replace the fan that comes with the Noctua low profile CPU cooler since the screws provided only allow for case mounting.

I needed a 19mm fan to replace my noisy fan thah came with my pc build. The Installation was quite easy - the 3 pin fitted onto the 4 pin slot without any issues and it is so quiet (a light hum). Happy with purchase.

Die Lüfter habe ich in einer Diskstation eingesetzt, um die Kühlung zuverlässig zu unterstützen. Schon beim Einbau merkt man, dass das Zubehör gut durchdacht ist. Statt klassischer Schrauben kommen kleine Gummipuffer zum Einsatz, die die Vibrationen reduzieren und gleichzeitig die Montage sehr einfach machen. Dadurch sitzt alles stabil und es gibt keine störenden Geräusche vom Gehäuse. Im laufenden Betrieb laufen die Lüfter angenehm leise. Sie sind deutlich unauffälliger als die ursprünglich verbauten Modelle und leisten trotzdem eine konstante Arbeit. Auch bei längeren Laufzeiten bleibt die Temperatur im System stabil. Besonders praktisch finde ich, dass gleich mehrere Gummipuffer beiliegen, sodass man direkt alles Nötige zur Hand hat. Das macht die Nachrüstung unkompliziert und sauber. Der Gesamteindruck ist durchweg positiv. Es gibt keine klappernden Teile und das Material wirkt solide. Für mich war es wichtig, dass die Diskstation leiser wird, und dieser Punkt ist voll erfüllt. Wer also Wert auf einen zuverlässigen Betrieb bei gleichzeitig geringer Lautstärke legt, wird hier eine gute Lösung finden. Verbesserungsbedarf sehe ich aktuell nicht, da die Lüfter genau das tun, was sie sollen.

NASのファンがうるさかったので、これに変えたのですが、音は静かで、風量も充分。以前使用していた山洋よりも静かと言えば比較になるでしょうか。値段だけの満足感はあります。

Replaced the dying fan in my synology NAS. As usual with noctua, real quality stuff that works and does a darn good job at it. Almost silent and moves a lot of air.
