A compelling new biography of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, that reveals how she transformed her role and established herself as one of the key members of the royal family. For many years, Camilla was portrayed in a poor light, blamed by the public for the break-up of the marriage between Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Initially, Queen Elizabeth refused to see or speak to her, but, since the death of Prince Philip, the Duchess had become one of the Queen's closest companions. Her confidence in Camilla and the transformation she had seen in Prince Charles since their wedding resulted in her choosing the first day of her Platinum Jubilee year to tell the world that she wanted Camilla to be Queen Consort, not the demeaning Princess Consort suggested in 2005. Angela Levin uncovers Camillaโs rocky journey to be accepted by the royal family and how she coped with her brutal portrayal in Netflix's The Crown . The public have witnessed her tremendous contribution to help those in need, especially during COVID. Levin has talked to many of the Duchessโs long-term friends, her staff and executives from the numerous charities of which Camilla is patron. She reveals why the Duchess concentrates on previously taboo subjects, such as domestic violence and rape. Most of all, Levin tells the story of how the Duchess has changed from a fun-loving young woman to one of the senior royalsโ hardest workers. She has retained her mischievous sense of humor, becoming a role model for older women and an inspiration for younger ones. Camilla is both an extraordinary love story and a fascinating portrait of an increasingly confident Queen Consort in waiting. It is an essential read for anyone wanting a greater insight into the royal family. Review: Very good - I like Camilla. Good thing as so did this suthor Review: Interesting insights on philanthropy and reinvention - This was a quick read. The easy Camilla story is to put her into the Netflix role and only discuss the past. Camilla has redeemed herself and is working hard in a new role - at age 75. The first chapter of this book was the weakest, but the more I read, the more I liked her.

The book doesn't flow
Every page is full of names of who Camilla saw & what they did. It's as if the book has left out the heart of what makes Camilla tick. She really IS SOMEONE SPECIAL which I never would have believed. Charles is lucky to have married her because she treasures him!

From Scandal to Sovereign Support: A Thoughtful Look at Camilla's Journey
I borrowed Camilla: From Outcast to Queen Consort because Iโm a long-time fan of the British Royal Family. Like many, I was once a devoted admirer of Princess Diana. But with time and age comes perspectiveโand Iโve come to see Dianaโs story not just as a fairytale gone wrong, but as a deeply human and cautionary tale. Her life taught me that being a princess isnโt all tiaras and privilege. Palaces, private jets, and designer clothes canโt compare to the real value of love, connection, and personal peace. Today, I find myself appreciating Camilla. I respect her for who she is and the quiet strength she brings to her role. Sheโs proven to be a steadying presence and, in my view, a positive partner for King Charles. Together, they make a solid team. This book was well written, engaging, and gave me a deeper understanding of the woman behind the crown. Whether you're curious about Camillaโs side of the story or just fascinated by royal history, this is a worthwhile read.

Camilla in depth
Interesting to know about the activities she is involved in but did get boring in the middle. But worth the read.
