Great time-saving tool!! Milwaukee Quality!
This Milwaukee metal-cutting saw is great. Every Milwaukee tool I own is superior quality in terms of design, fit, finish and useful features, compared to other competitive tools on the market. Not all my tools are Milwaukee, but the main, (key) ones are. No different with this saw. I've used it to cut a variety of different thickness bar stock and tube (round & square). It gives razor-sharp and 'true' cuts. It's lightweight. It's a real time-saver for doing fab or production work. Cutting steel requires a variety of tools, there isn't just one tool you need for all steel jobs (like there are many different wood-cutting tools depending on the job). But this fits the bill for many jobs I do. For guys who haven't used a metal circular saw, beware that hot chips fly around. It's not a tool you want to use next to your new pickup or an area you need to keep clean. I use mine outside as much as I can (in the grass ...so metal chips don't 'rust' and stain the concrete). Wear long sleeves is a good idea. I'm sure there might be faults with this tool, but I haven't found any worth noting. I guess if there was one suggestion for Milwaukee, it would be to send along a spare 'clear' window (on the guard) as a replacement. What does that 2" clear plastic part cost ...10 cents??! Eventually yer not going to be able to see the blade through the window as it becomes opaque from use. Sure, a guy can buy a replacement but the shipping cost will be $11. The blade on mine is still nice and sharp. One trip is to ease the tool into the metal. Avoid jambing it in quick. Preserve the blade. Overall, it is a treat to use a quality tool. And I got a great deal on it not quite a yr ago from Amazon (bought with my own non-sponsored $$). I've looked at the Bauer (in the store), and it looks pretty good, ..pretty good value. But I doubt from experience it'll be Milwaukee quality or durability. But if I was on a tight budget it might be an option for guys (and I DO have a couple Bauer tools). But in this case for a critical fab or production tool, I still think I'd wait and buy the Milwaukee when it comes on sale. Highly recommend!

OMG!!
Tool came fast, well packaged, and ready to go. I like I could buy tool only as I have plenty of batteries. The first cut I made with this saw was 2"x4"x1/4" walled steel. Had I more experience with the saw it would have done the job in one pass. With the included blade 2 inch cut, you really have to keep the saw flat and tight to the surface of your material. I plan to get the 5 7/8 " blade this week to help with that. My guess is when you take your new saw out of the box you will be thinking you bought the wrong saw! I did. Watch some YouTube videos on this saw, and I assure you this saw will do what you see it do the way it does it in the video. My favorite introduction to this saw to my friends is to cut a scrap piece of 1/4" flat stock and put the cut directly on my face. It really is not hot at all and a mirror cut. You will not regret this saw. Just like every other Milwaukee tool I have, I wonder, where has this been my whole life? Really great saw, light weight, feels good in your hand, makes straight cuts easily. JUST ORDER IT !!

As close as you'll get to a lightsaber!
I've used a 4-1/2" metal blade on a mini corded wormdrive saw for years and always lusted for this saw. I saw that it was heavily discounted so I finally bought it and it has exceeded my expectations after cutting a heavy duty metal door (3/32" sheet on both sides with nearly 2" of foam in the middle) into smaller chunks like it was cutting through 1/8" lauan board. Having the clear chip gaurd on the front is just icing on the cake - I no longer need to wear a blast suit when using a metal saw as it keeps all the shavings well under control! The stock blade is great but it's a standard size for metal blades so this saw will hopefully live a long hard life in my shop! If you have any projects with metal sheets in the future - this is a tool you really should consider purchasing!

It's primary job is to cut metal, and it does that well.
It is heavier than I expected (although listed), I also expected a metal blade cage due to the fact that you're cutting metal. I read one response that complained about it being a left handed tool (my kind of diversity). While the ability to view the blade contact point is obscured from right handed users, so is the risk of us getting hit with metal shards. When the tool is cutting you can't see your cut line at the blade contact point due to metal shards, so for me it is a moot point. Yes, the blade side is on the right side of the tool, which is opposite of any circular saw I have, but I've never thought of tools having a side? I know plenty left handed of people who make their living in the labor industry, and I've never heard how a tools design stops or otherwise impedes their ability to use it and do their jobs. For me it is a functional tool that cuts well, and uses my existing M18 battery fleet.

It cuts fast!
Another remarkable tool from Milwaukee! I was looking for a efficient way to cut raised floor tiles at a data center I'm working at. It has done wonderful. Definitely saves time over a jigsaw or Sawzall with a non bur finish, and it didn't chip up the finish on top of the tile.

A saw has to know his limitations
I bought this saw specifically for its light weight and small size. I already had a (corded) Fein Slugger 9" worm drive metal saw, and I had been looking forward to the release of the Milwaukee Fuel 8" Metal Saw, but decided what I was lacking more was something with easier handling for, say, going up a ladder and cutting a fairly small piece. A large saw can be really clumsy and precarious doing that sort of thing. Besides cutting metal tubing, sheet, and plate, I have used it to cut plywood, 2x4s, and PVC pipe. The blade isn't particularly fast for cutting wood, but it works pretty well. For PVC, you can get a real clean cut--much better than using a hacksaw or sawzall, IMO. This is an awesome little saw, but I found a couple of its limitations. First, cutting longitudinally through a weld bead on 1/4" mild steel plate (about 3/8" total thickness), the residual stresses in the metal began to pinch the blade pretty good. The little saw was powering through it, until after about 3-1/2" out of maybe 6 or 7", the heat protection would apparently shut it down. It was then a pain to extricate from the cut, and several carbide tips were damaged and lost in the process. I actually repeated this twice before I realized the saw had shut itself down. Also in the process, the abundance of hot chips partially melted through the lower guard (some blistering on the outside). After this, I got out my Fein Slugger 9" corded saw, and powered right through it all. If it had not been for the pinch due to the weld bead, I think the only problem would have been the guard melting--which would have actually been worse. One thing a buyer should be aware of is that there is no bevel adjustment for this saw--90 degree shoe angle only.
