A war between heaven and hell is raging on Earth - and a hot mess of hormonal fury is raging in Issei's pants. The guy is dying to get some action. Which is funny, since his first date ever turns into a winged monster and tries to kill him. Fortunately, ridiculously curvy redhead Rias comes to his rescue. She's president of The Occult Research Club, a club that doesn't actually research the occult. They ARE the occult - and Rias is a Devil. Rias takes Issei as a more-than-willing slave and begins training him to use magic in battle against the Fallen Angels, the long-time enemies of Devils everywhere. If Issei can improve his mystical skills, he'll be able to help his hotter-than-hell master and her scorching supernatural schoolgirl friends defeat their foes. Even better, he might end up with a few sexy slaves of his own. Review: Series 1 of Highschool DXD - I have tried to watch this on the Internet for ages now and always got to a certain episode on a site and the link was down ruining my enjoyment of the series so when I saw this was going to be sold like this I decided to grab it. Product Description: So this comes as one case which holds hold four discs inside: Two Discs = DVDs Two discs = Blu Rays Region Codes: DVDs = 1, 2 ,4 Blu Ray = A, B Languages = Japanese & English Dubbing ANIME: So the anime itself is really good I know people say its a fan-service but that just adds an element for us guys to enjoy. It's from the same creators as Ikki Tousen but add a few years and this is where they have come too so it just goes to show they are making strides in the animation industry. Anyway so we have the first complete series here and the content is superbly drawn, where the animation is really good on the eyes and you can tell it hasn't been rushed in its development. The audio is as you would expect fitting for the scene and not overdone very suave in some areas and heart pounding in others. I will say the audio sounds much better on the Blu Rays a bit of a no brainer but that's the truth. The dubbings are easy to listen too for both versions the Japanese and the English both voice overs are enjoyable to listen too and not annoying but I've found to enjoy the English version a little more as it has had some new scripts thrown in e.g. New Jokes, New humour. This was unexpected to be honest as they usually try to stick to the Japanese script, which they have but just expanded on it in slight instances. The Characters are enjoyable and not irritating and well thought out and you can come to like them not for their assets guys but for their personality and roles in the series. As expected of a fan-service anime they touch bases with small girls to stupidly large girls (Bust & Booty) for all us fantasists but I don't care leave it to your imagination to decide on that one. STORY: The story is rather twisty but not complicated to understand after the first two episodes. I am going to resist in explaining the whole story but the general summary is our protagonist Hyoudou Issei, a 2nd Year High school student who hasn't had a girlfriend all his life out of the blue finally gets a girlfriend! but then after a short time dating gets killed by her. This is where our second main character Rias Gremory shows up. where Issei is revived back to life and learns the shocking truth from her that in fact she is a Devil and now so is he. The story also expands on Issei as he learns he has a weapon inside of him called the "Sacred Gear" which evolves and gives him tremendous power. The story continues to follow Issei and Rias and the rest as they explain to issei they are locked in a three way battle against fallen angels and regular angels the only difference between the two angel types is one are angles but they have been corrupted by evil desires and the others pretty much normal angels out to fight devils. It's got the same mock up as most other animes as it follows the characters in all there going-ons at highschool and beyond and how they develop in battle and life so nothing out of the ordinary. Evaluation: Please give this show a watch if you are a fan of Anime but as stated this is fan-service heavy but still contains a very good story behind it and at the time of writing the second series is already streaming and on its way so don't fall behind everyone. The animation is amazing along with the dubbing in both English and Japanese and the characters all enjoyable with unique traits to watch and understand. Try it guys you won't be disappointed. :) Review: A great anime with lots of Plot and Actual Plot (Story), TL;DR? This is an uncensored anime which has a great story. - There are anime's that have Plot (Fan service) and actual Plot (A well thought out story). High School DxD has both. It has an intense amount of fan service and is a very ecchi anime, but at the same time, covers itself by giving a backstory as to why it has so much fan service. The story wouldn't make sense without the fan service. High School DxD originally started off as a Manga series, so if you want a sneak peak, I highly recommend reading the manga (Which is also available on desertcart) Brief overview of the series: There is a teenage boy by the name of Issei Hyoudou who suffers from mass perversion. After a slight altercation between him and a "Fallen Angel" he becomes a Devil. His power is linked to his perversion, the more perverse he is, the stronger he gets. There's fan service, character development, fan service, fighting, oh and did I mention fan service, since there is a lot of it. That's as much as I will say as a brief description since I don't want to spoil it too much. If you enjoy fan service and want a laugh while also enjoying a well thought out story, High School DxD is a great choice. The product itself: This is the Blu-Ray version only, there is no DVD copy included. I say this since there is a special edition available which contains both. It IS region coded for Region B, so it will mainly work in the UK and Europe. Un-censored, and boy is it Un-censored. This is NOT the version that covers up certain aspects, so if you're buying this and live with someone, make sure they know about it or you may well be having an awkward conversation.

Hentai desu ka...yes? then go on, be a devil.
If you thought this anime was full of gratuitous boobs, and panties, then you'd be right. However, though I'm not an advocate of extreme fan-service, Highschool DxD is much more than that. The quality of the animation is very good, the pace with which the story moves is engaging, and the comedy is woven seamlessly into the action. The story follows the exploits of Issei Hyodo, whose highschool life is full of hormonaly charged longing, and a penchant for peeping, which has earned him the reputation of being a sleezey pervert. Imagine then his surprise, when a demure young girl from his school asks if he will be her boyfriend. He eagerly agrees to go on a date with her, and all is great until instead of a goodnight kiss, he receives a far darker parting gesture, which opens the door to a new life of demons, boobs, devils, boobs, and fallen angles, and boobs....the plot, as they say, thickens, did I mention boobs ? Overall I felt that this anime would have been better without quite so much fan-service, but if you are not offended by the preponderance of, it has to be said, beautifully drawn breasts, then you will not be disappointed. If you liked HSOTD this may be for you. I bought this based on a great opening offer price, and am glad I did.

This was truly made for 15+ and is amazing
Ok what can I say about this but it is amazing, a great storyline, some great comedy & sure there is a lot of topless and underwear showing (but after the 1st two episodes you get used to and think nothing of it). The great thing about the storyline is you truly can, see and feel it, the bonus to it is the add-on of it based around Devils, Fallen Angels & Angels who are all fighting against each other. The girls in the story who play the character's truly do show there roles with the Devil girls showing there naughty and sexy side's, the Angels show there kind and innocent side's & the Fallen Angels show that they are both good and bad. If anything I'd recommend this to be watched by any fans of Devils, Angels & Anime/Manga but one thing for sure make sure you are 15 years or older as this was truly made for middle aged teens or older due to the sexy and sexual parts in it.

Otaku John here to review High School DXD the Series. Okay, as a well-experienced connoisseur of anime, manga, and light novels, going back from the 70's to modern day, I have read and watched just about every series out there at one time or another. I can honestly say that for the genre it covers, this is a great anime. First and foremost this is a fan-service comedy. It's low-brow, and not intended to be taken seriously, or to compete with dramatic classics like Akira or Ghost In The Shell. This is just a zany, funny, slapstick show meant for people to sit down and watch to escape the harsh realities of a mundane over-serious world. That being said, this is definitely for adults. Lots of nudity, language and more adult situations than you can count. But that's the whole point, isn't it? Too bad the High School DxD Light Novels aren't available in the U.S. currently. Because the plotline and story is actually quite good. Animation is 5-star, characters are excellent, voice actors are top-notch, and you can't help but binge-watch it as soon as you put it on. Many people don't like this series, because they think it's too low-brow. But if you're a guy, and you're honest with yourself, you can't help but accept the fact that just about every guy goes thru a phase where they're a lot like the main character Issei Hyoudo,( in their own minds, if nothing else). If you like light-hearted comedy, and love to laugh, then get this. You won't be disappointed. Again, its made for adults, not kids. Think of it like an 80's R-Rated comedy film, akin to Porky's or Revenge of the Nerds. It's not a Francis Ford Coppola masterpiece of directing excellence, but it sure as heck is A-1 Entertaining. I also highly recommend getting the High School DxD light novels, if you ever get the chance. They're a great read. Also, don't forget, there's two more seasons of DxD available right now too, and another in the works in Japan currently.

Issei is your somewhat normal high school boy - raging hormones and all. He thinks he can never get a girlfriend until a young lady named Yuma asked to go out. When they have their first date, it also ends up being their last as she grows wings and stabs him with a spear of light. As he dies, a vision in red hair and a big chest arrives and tells him she is her master. The next day, he wakes up naked with her in his bed. Later he learns that she and her friends (the school Lolita, the busty upperclassman, and the most popular boy in school) are all devils (and you would rather deal with a devil over a demon. Devils make a pact and honor it, demons just want to play with your insides - even if you do not want them to.) and so is he and the one who tried to kill him was a Fallen Angel. He will learn that he has a special power but can he learn to harness it to protect him, his friends and possibly one he cares about. Despite the high Ecchi level, there is a story under all the adult themes. Issei is actually not a bad person, despite his perverse behavior, he is willing to help those who needs it. From his follow devils, to a lovely former nun he will follow his heart more than his hormones. Overall I say give it a try, especially if you like shows like Queens Blade or Sekerei.
