good value & easy to set up.
after receiving the box had it set up in minutes even with connecting a hard drive for the record function. for basic functions the box is very straightforward to use. user manual could do with some improvement as the text is very small so hard to read. good picture quality on live tv and on recorded programs. overall I am very happy with the purchase for the price and the ability to record stuff when I cant watch live is a definite plus.

Good machine
This is a great little machine, easy to set up, just switched it on and select region and search, done! Was up and running in no time. Only downside is you can’t check other stations programming schedules while remaining on the channel your watching. Two options ‘EPG’ gives you full list of the days programms and pressing ‘OK’ button lets you see what your watching and next programme. But to see other channels info it takes you too that other channel. All the same not a bad item. Still playing with functions. A lot smaller than expected but fits fine.

I have a LG smart TV with record function - however the TV is anything but smart, it records perhaps 1 in 4 programs, with various excuses like it didn't like the USB hard drive to wrong time etc. I needed something to record TV reliably, but without the expense of sky or a 'proper' humax type box. For the price this box fits the bill very well, with a few caveats I'll list. Its about the size of a large book, comes with no leads, a reasonable remote although the buttons are heavy, and bad instructions. Setting up isn't too difficult, just work your way around the setup options and ignore the leaflet, and once set to output in 1080P the picture is excellent. Response to the remote is a bit sluggish, but so is my LG tv. Recordings work well, it accepted every USB device I tried, an old small 16gb thumbstick had a bit of frame judder on playback but it wasn't rejected. I've decided on an old external drive I once used for backups, and that works excellently. The programming guide is pretty good, though you don't get a full screen all channel view like sky, just channel by channel, so its best used in conjunction with a TV times or internet guide. The recordings are not stored with their title either, just a filename made from the date and time of recording. Not easy when it starts to fill up as you may have no idea whats what, and have to press the preview button to see the file play in a small box to find if its the recording you want. I did find something useful - if you remove the drive the files can be also played back on your PC, even the HD recordings, at least using VLC media player which is what I have installed. Issues aside, I'm happy with the device and glad I didn't spend 8x more on a mainstream product.

It's okayish.
I had and still have some problems with this product. I bought it because I wanted to record freeview programmes. It works okay but I have to keep reconfiguring channels with autosearch. It became a regular event because some channels just dissappear. I also found responsiveness very slow. It needs a dongle to have internet access but there is only one WiFi port so either the memory stick or the dongle is connected. I was hoping to use it for watching Planet Knowledge with the dongle but despite having a good connection it doesn't work. Otherwise the menu system makes sense and the remote control quality is good too. There is a little display on the front of the device but it stopped working after about three weeks. The price is very reasonable but it has its limits. It meets very basic expectations.

READ THIS !!! >>> WI-FI feature is utterly useless TOTAL RUBBISH !!!!!
WI-FI feature is utterly useless TOTAL RUBBISH !!!!! So i purchased this item at £26, The image quality is OK, The software menu are rubbish poor icons very typical of Chinese made rubbish. The unit works fine via a BOOSTED terrestrial antenna !!! If your looking for the WI-FI feature like i was it's UTTER RUBBISH. After spending another £9 on a poxy WI-FI usb antenna and logging it onto my home Network the WI-FI options are complete RUBBISH.... Even the Youtube app won't run videos. TOTAL UTTER RUBBISH !!!! for WI-FI........ OM as as Digital TV receiver ONLY !!!! I WILL NOT BE purchasing another THING from China.......... Do your self a favour and do the same :-(

A brilliant FreeView box with many hidden treats.
A great, little freeview box. Installation is very easy and the (many) TV channels found are crystal clear. I love the boxes media capabilities and I`m looking forward to recording TV with a USB memory stick. I have already connected my mobile phone via the USB slot and it does indeed display your music, photographs and videos - brilliant. I was also pleasantly surprised to find some inbuilt games inside the freeview box too! If youre a fan of games like Tetris, Snake etc - then your not going to be disappointed.

Too much work for new hardware but old software
Seemed to be OK for about 4 days, then a host of issues: 1 Huge delay in remote response 2 'PVR' usage caused picture breakup and severe pixellation -useless; suspect that CPU stretched 3 Rebooting itself randomly 4 Started to 'lose' channels 5 USB finds jpg, BMP, PNG as 'Unrecognised format' 6 Wiped out entire contents of folder holding jpeg pix 7 Very poor software with numerous problems. I've seen the same software elsewhere. Hardware no better 8 Dubious lipsync The kinds of problems encountered were of a systemic nature and the expected 1-off types. Bad choice - I had to return and very glad I bought from Amaz rather than direct from China. Pity as it seemed to be just the job initially. I even managed to put a film to SD card.

Freedom From Contract Entanglement
I decided to review my TV usage and found I was paying for a package called 'Essential' that was simply Freeview and paying a fee for what my TV could already provide as standard, however, as I like certain add-ons (recording, certain channels that were weak where I live etc.) I decide on buying this. Genius move in my opinion. First, after set up, I got 93 extra channels my provider couldn't give me (it varies from signal to signal) and by attaching an external hard drive (bought separately), I get loads more record space than before and can detach the drive and take it with me, (lost loads of classic movies when I had to return the old equipment). Not only does it save a fortune, but the actual box layout figure is peanuts and works like you wouldn't believe! One thing to note, you may have to reformat your TV slightly (e.g. from the 'getting started' mode to smart TV) and it can be a bit overwhelming, but follow the instructions for your TV first, then the box and you should be fine OR, get a chap in, Either way it's worth it, saves money and is really satisfying when it all comes together. Brilliant stuff.
