Xiaomi Smart Laser Measure 36764

I watched a review by YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss about the craziest Xiaomi gadgets and this one stood out as a device that could actually be very useful without being gimmicky. I have not been disappointed! It's utilitarian and does exactly what you expect it to do. But pair it with the Xiaomi app and suddenly it gains superpowers. It stores all the measurements you've take and you can label them to say what you measured. You can also draw lines and assign your measurements to those lines and the app will resize the lines to the proper scale. This means that you could, for instance, draw the plan of a room and assign all your measurements of the walls to the plan you drew and, et voila, you have a to-scale representation of your room. The app also has a calculator for things like area and volume. Nice! I haven't fully utilised it yet, but I am definitely going to use it a lot in the coming weeks as we measure up various bits in our house that is currently undergoing renovation. Easy five stars!

Again as someone else says you need to be aware of the region the device and phone are in. If they aren't the same the app will not pair so you cannot buy this from China and have it work on a UK phone or will not pair.

Won't connect to app possibly a region limitation but essentially just get a fairly limited measure that doesn't do anything clever, which we're the reasons for the purchase (such as room mapping). Feel this is missold as these limitations are not publicised.

I believe the device I received was intended for the mainland China market, which is why it doesn't sync properly with the app. Despite this limitation, I have found that the device functions quite well on its own without the need for the app. It provides accurate readings and performs well my needs.
