I don't want wet food to dry out.** A: The feeder does not contain a space for ice packs like some others, so freshness can be an issue if your using the cat feeder over a timescale of days. However the sections are deep and the cover fits snugly, so assuming the weather is cool, I have used it with wet food and had no issue. On the odd occasion I need it to provide food over 2-3 days however, I place wet food in the sections for the first day and dry food for the days thereafter. I have two cats and two feeders and them being digital means I can ensure the feeders to open at exactly the same time. Previous feeders I tried to make open at the same time worked with a hand set timer and selecting exact times was virtually impossible!So far I'm impressed with this feeder! **Q: How long does it stay open for?** A: It stays open indefinitely. Essentially you input the times that you want the carousel to turn. You can close the hatch when you initially set it up - this opens on the first turn of the carousel, and will stay open for all subsequent turns. Hope that makes sense. **Q: What exact batteries does this need? I want to make sure I have the right ones ready for when this arrives.** A: The feeder takes 4 x 1.5v LR14 batteries **Q: How much food goes in one compartment? In g's** A: I made the compartments less deep to feed a hedgehog and a small tin of Purina Gold cat food fills that (hedgehog won't eat hedgehog food!). There’s quite a few different buttons but it’s easy to get the hang of, change settings, etc. It does run a little fast, but the cat seems happy enough with it! My cat is on a special diet and can’t eat too much at once. However, being able to feed my cat for several days us a big benefit ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but no standby mode so have to keep setting up every time it's used *by J***M on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 October 2019* This cat feeder is quite sturdy, easy to clean and was straight forward to set up although it takes a couple of minutes to work through setting the clock up and the 6 times at which it rotates to the next feed.And therein is the main problem. If you turn it off then it forgets all the settings so when you turn it on again you have to go through the simple but tedious process of setting it up again. So if you want to use it regularly (say every weekend) then you either have the choice of leaving it on, in which case it keeps turning every day unnecessarily wasting the batteries, or you have to keep setting it up every time you want to use it. This would be so much better if it had three modes - Off (switches it completely off), Standby (keeps the settings and the clock running but doesn't keep turning), On (fully working).Although I could set it up to feed my cat for 2 meals a day for 3 days (or even 1 meal a day for 6 days), I wouldn't use it for more than 2 days with wet food because my cat turns his nose up if the food has been in it for more than a couple of days (especially in warm weather).
