I've preferred nuts with springs - because if you don't know if you need them or not, you can just cut them off (ct off the wire). It's surprising how hard these are to find...you'd think they're readily available at your local hardware store - - they're not! Plus uni-strut makes all kinds of alternative hanging and support methods. Excellent product overall.
