Are strong enough for shelving

I have used them for a large and heavy bathroom cabinet (about 30kg fully loaded) and they have proved more than adequate in a stud partition wall. Hope this helps.

What size hole should you drill into plasterboard

Just measuring my plugs I'd say an 7-8mm drill bit. Start smaller and work your way up.
