This mic has good sound quality. I teacher opera singers in my New York Studio and this mic keeps more of the color of the voice than most.

There is now a beta version of Rode Unify software so the device should work fine on both platforms. I have used this RØDE X XCM-50 Professional USB Condenser Microphone for dozens of meetings, a couple of test streams, and recording audio for work and personal interests. Whatever I threw at this RØDE X XCM-50 Professional USB Condenser Microphone it handled admirably. While you can get some dynamic mics that better isolate directional sound, if you need to work with another person to capture their audio as well then this RØDE X XCM-50 Professional USB Condenser Microphone has an edge. There's also the added benefit of dedicated software from the hardware manufacturer. While you can certainly use other pieces of software, what makes the RØDE X XCM-50 Professional USB Condenser Microphone a complete solution is that it comes with the mic, all hardware accessories needed in-the-box and dedicated software. What I liked most about this RØDE X XCM-50 Professional USB Condenser Microphone was: - It was a complete solution for my needs - This mic sounded better than the other condenser mics I owned - The software experience was intuitive and is now available on Mac What I liked least about this RØDE X XCM-50 Professional USB Condenser Microphone was: - It took a few months after purchase to get a beta version of Unify software on Mac - The included mic stand is not the most premium one you'll ever use Overall, if you are in the market for a one-box solution for online meetings, podcasting, voiceovers, streaming or the like then this RØDE X XCM-50 Professional USB Condenser Microphone should be on your shortlist. Expected Superior Performance and Construction Quality from RODE at an Exceptional Price Point.

I review microphones and I am also a audio enthusiast and I wasn't really expecting to like this little USB microphone that much but I'm going to tell you what, it sounds quite decent, has some great features and I'm pretty sure your average person would be more than happy with this, it's so much better than what I was expecting. It may not give you professional quality sound but it'll get you pretty darn close, I wouldn't try and use it for a voice acting gig or record professional music with it but you can do a professional YouTube channel or a professional podcast or anything like that and this would be a great choice for somebody looking for a USB microphone

Item: Rode XCM-50 condenser digital usb microphone Price: $149.00 at the time of this review on 02 19 23 The new Rode XCM microphone is one of two Rode X series microphones I now have. The XCM-50 is the condenser mic, and the Rode XDM-100 is the dynamic mic. The XCM-50 and its bigger sibling are both digital USB microphones usable on Windows systems; not compatible with iPhone at this time. Also, when you acquire the Rode XCM-50, you’ll also be able to do a full download of the relatively new Unify software. Because I was more interested in the hardware than software, I will say up front that while a nice add to the product, I did not find it the most friendly nor ‘necessary add’ to my current software inventory. My experience with the Unify Software….. I did download the Unify software as instructed in the microphone’s package. It’s free if you’ve purchased the Rode microphone, and available separately if not. I had no issues downloading the software and then playing around with it. My primary activities are in video-recording and post editing. So when I started playing around with the software’s home page, sound effects and mixer panel, I felt it really didn’t offer me anything I didn’t have in my video editor software and their streaming software package. In fact, after loading Unify, and as expected, all of my audio-in and audio-out preferences were changed. The problem there was that when I went to my daily-use editing software, I’d lost audio out and volume control. By the time I reconfigured, I just didn’t see any value in taking on the Unify software, let alone dealing with figuring out how to manage a secondary software utility. However, if you currently are only doing live streaming, or already run multiple programs, this may be worth a closer look. At least now and for me it just didn’t impress. The Rode XCM-50….. Rode’s mic and software are focused on ‘streamers and gamers.’ But don’t think that their X-series microphones are limited to those two functions. My interest in the XCM-50, what I’d call a ‘Pro-sumer’ mic, is for add-on narration in my video post-production work. What live streaming I might do, can be accommodated by what I feel is a more friendly software from the same source as my video editor software. What you will hear in my short video is audio recorded from BOTH my daily-use wireless mic system that I use for video reviews, and switching back for forth, from the Rode. I’ve done simultaneous recordings from both mics, and then used my video editing software to synchronize the two audio tracks so I could go from one to the other. Hopefully you’ll hear a marked difference. And you’ll see the Rode mic on a boom system with me wearing small earphones for monitoring audio via the phone jack on the back of the Rode mic. My opinion of the Rode XCM-50 is that it does deliver performance. I could hear it in my recording. And by switching from my small lapel mic wireless system to the Rode, back and forth, I think you’ll understand just how much more you can get from a prosumer microphone like the XCM-50.

The sound quality is awesome. You can connect wired headphones and your wired woofer as well. Just go for it.

本体が小さく、机に置いても邪魔になりません。オーディオインターフェースも必要がないので配線もごちゃごちゃしないのが便利。音質的にも特別いいわけではないけど、安定した音で運用できます。ノイズはかなり少ないかと思います。１点残念なのは付属のUnifyというソフトがMacに対応していないことです。 本領を発揮させるにはWindowsで使うことをオススメします。

I have a number of Rode products for film work, this was for gaming on the PC. Everyone commented on the vastly improved volume and quality compared to an expensive headset. Optional software if you need to control sources for different applications.
