I would not recommend using on the paintwork as this product remains tacky and does not really dry, I prefer to use it on any metal work that has not been painted (bolts and bits of frame) I put a liberal coating on the fork braces as they are notorious for rusting and so far I am impressed with the protection it has offered. New clear version available. ACF50 best for alloy but this will work. **Q: will this product work on mirrors** A: Yes if the mirror casing is chromed, you could wipe it on to protect the mirror over the winter and then wash off after winter. **Q: How do you use this ? it doesn't seem to dry. Is it just a kind of oily coating that you brush with it ?** A: I sprayed the XCP Rust Blocker onto the surfaces. In hindsight, I would have wiped it on with a rag on the flat surfaces and used a fine brush to apply a thin coat to the crevices. The spray delivers too much in my opinion so that the XCP pools in crevices, producing a brown surface. After application, the XCP remained oily for some days, eventually drying to a soft film in some areas. I must admit I haven't checked the condition of the coating recently in all areas so some may still be soft; I don't know. I'm not bothered if it dries or doesn't dry; I'm only interested in its' rust protection properties based on test reviews. However, if you are thinking of applying it to areas that will contact your clothing, you might want to experiment first. **Q: Is the product colourless or does it leave stain/colour on surfaces?** A: It depends on the thickness of the coating, and whether the excess is brushed / wiped.
