Would these be ok for cat 6a data cable?

I have not used mine on 6a cable, but I have used them on coaxial cable and twin and earth 2.5 with no problems, they are sharp well made and true , I hope my answer will be helpful to you, for you to make a choice if these side snips would be suitable for you .

Will these cut 0.020”-0.032” diameter steel safety wire as used in aviation?

I'm not sure, I'm an alarm engineer and use them for stripping alarm cable, when I cut 2.5 twin and earth they don't stay sharp for long.

It arrived hanging out of the box with strange scorch marks on the cutting edge. Was it meant to be wrapped in a bag? Should I return it?

Test it see if it’s ok if it doesn’t do it send them back they are too exspensive not to cut right they shouldn’t have burn marks other takes strength out of them if not tempered correctly
