Touching memoirs
A very well written and interesting novel which seems very authentic . Unfortunately, very little has been written on this subject , whatever available is more of military history and campaigns. An honest attempt and to capture the glimpses of remote areas of India with earnestness.

Great Book
I loved this book. It blended in really well with the Lake Pagoda which I finished right before this book. Ann Bennett is an excellent writer and I'm ready to read another. Don't miss these two books.

A thoroughly good read. I have read many of Ann Bennett’s books and find them fascinating. A great history lesson from the era of my parents.

an interesting read of India
My late husband was born in India and grew up there till he was twenty six so this story somehow had more fascination for me. To learn just a little more about some of the history of India.

Critical Reader Satisfied
Absolutely wonderful book. Historically accurate, great characters that are real, and a story that is captivating. I'm a serious reader, and this was an excellent book.
