Great lights
Debated for a few weeks with myself as to whether I should invest in these lights. Would they work as advertised, would I find the changing lights distracting, would I find the camera on top of the tv intrusive, will it really make that much difference to watching movies and gaming compared to having static backlights, and more importantly, what would the wife feel about them. She can be quite vocal on anything she finds irritating and annoying, usually me. On top of that they are not cheap, had to get the 5m length, coming in at £169. I have had them for just over a month so thought I would share my thought's for anyone in two minds about them. They came in quality packaging and were nicely packed in the box. The camera is solid and well made, no cheap plastic here, and the strip of LED lights also look and feel good quality, vastly different to much cheaper LED lights. There is a wire you connect from the camera to a small control box, the lights connect to the same control box as does the power lead that plugs into an electrical socket. The only issue I have had is that the control box, after a short while, kept coming unstuck from the back of the tv. I fixed this with a command strip sticking it directly to wall behind the tv, so no big deal. The important thing is that the lights themselves have stuck, and remain stuck to the tv. Relatively easy to set up and calibrate, via an app on your phone. There is no remote with this kit, all done via the app, but you can link to Alexa or Google to switch on and off, change colour ect, as you can just have a static colour if you wish. The lights are bright and colours are vivid. The change of colour, when using dreamview mode, is virtually instant. The colours on the tv screen are reasonably well replicated by the lights, sometimes the colours may be slightly off from what I'm seeing on screen, but this may be due to my lack of skill at setting it up. The key is to adjust the saturation level on the app, I have mine on 15% and to adjust the white balance, mine is a few notches away from the centre towards the blue end of the scale, to get as close as you can. You can go further and adjust the tv settings to improve it more, but I didn't want to go down that route. To be honest I am more than happy with how it is. I have downloaded a video, but I have to say it doesn't do the lights justice, much better in the flesh as it were. And the answers to my questions at the top of this very long winded review. Yes they do as advertised. I do not find them distracting at all, actually it's now more distracting if the lights are not on. You actually forget the camera is on top of the tv after a very short while. Watching movies, and especially gaming, are definitely given a boost. My wife has not made a comment either way which, believe me, is a very good sign, and yes she still finds me irritating and annoying. Would I recommend? I already have. So to summarise, a good quality product that does what it says. Value for money? Your paying for quality and the technology for it to do its thing, and although not a life essential, they make me happy. It would be nice if they were cheaper, but then it would be nice if everything else was cheaper too. If you have some spare cash to spend on some lights then I absolutely recommend these. Hope this review has helped you decide.

Very Happy
So after a long time putting off, as unsure how good this really was, I decided to go for it. Setup went well on our 55inch LG TV. Was little planning involved as making sure LEDs were in the correct place before sticking them on. The back of the tv is not flat, so just had to work around that. Then I positioned the camera on top of tv in the centre. At first I did not think it would be secure enough. The camera has a counter weight built in, and has not moved since I put it on. Even with a five year old running around the house. There is also a little box that sticks to the rear of the tv, the control module. Once that was sorted, was just a case of downloading the app, and going through the setup. Setup was simple enough. Point to note on the app, is that you need to go into the app settings, and make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the app. Part of the setup involves sticking little orange foam blocks on to the screen, however, I did not like this idea, and switched the tv on, then selected a YouTube video which displays the orange blocks. Soon as that was completed I played around with all the different settings. It does work well. It does match the colours of the screen quite well. Not always accurate. But have played with the settings and have it a lot better now. There is a little lag time sometimes with it matching the colours, but this is down to what you are watching and you hardly notice it to be honest. My advice is to research it online, as have found user guides etc, to get the best out of it. Overall I am very happy. Still playing with the settings, and not tried it with a film yet or gaming. Only on day three so far. Definitely worth the money if want to try this. Very well made gadget also. Quality is very good.

Good but far from perfect
I'm actually happy with this purchase but I'm also a maximalist. Probably there will be improvements later on and I know that most of all would be happy with this. Sure thing whoever gets it from me in the future when I upgrade, will be. The good: - installation is easy, calibration is okay-ish - lighting is fantastic, in the video, the brightness is set to 35%, saturation to 1%, white balance if a bit towards the red, ceiling Govee M1 strip is set to brightness 50%, the video is kind of "dark" therefor expect a lot more light - response is instant, no delays - reliable, works all the time - scenes are synced to Alexa, DreamView (where devices are added as an extra to the TV light strip) also work with a single voice command (or any Alexa routine triggers) - gradient effects are nice The bad: - no Homekit, no Matter (big down for me but HomeBridge can solve it, tested and works) - connection is either via Bluetooth or WiFi, both connect extremely slow via the App but when it's connected, it's stable - colour accuracy is bad. It's not just a couple of percentages off but actually a lot of hit and misses. Dark parts shouldn't "glow" blue. The ugly: - That camera on top of the screen, yeah we all get it why it's needed but the size is noticable. The good thing is that you can install below the TV with a bit of tweeking in the app. Colour accuracy is a hit and miss as usual with Govee. Found this out in the hard way.

Great product
I was intrigued by this product, as I knew of the Philips TV doing a similar back of TV lighting display. Read the reviews and thought, why not give the movies we watch a bit of lighting drama/action. YouTube had a great install video, it installed really easy. Setup was fiddly, but the end result was definitely worth it. There's loads of settings to play with, but in the evening, lights off, it enhances the experience, so I'm very happy with the purchase.

Magical
Magical colour experience, works best in a darkened room but is also good in daylight. Many effects are available but I just leave it on the one that matches what’s on the screen. It’s not a perfect match for the screen colours, particularly when there are a lot on screen, but it is definitely a great addition to my viewing experience. Easy to set up and use with the app. Mine is on a 65” screen and I definitely recommend it. Marvellous!

Mind blowing
I brought this to test it out on my new TV I always love to have Led never had this brand and never had it back of my TV this was my first experience using Goove brand overall it’s amazing brightness can be changed to your preferences on the app lots of variety of settings to choose from easy installation just peel the back sticker and stick it on back of your TV come with instructions for piece of mind and all other accessories you will need has plenty of colour option available and it stick really well to your TV it wont peel off has good stickiness there much more I could say about it in my opinion it’s worth the money it is expensive don’t get me wrong but you get what you paid for and the amount of features it has work really good with gaming or whenever you watching film I use this LED as my night time light set it on the timer when you want it to be on and off which is really convenient.

Exceptional TV lights
These lights are great, they completely change your TV viewing experience. I had been looking into similar lights for a while, however with the other brand the price and need for additional hubs was putting me off. I then stumbled across these Govee lights and they seemed to tick all the boxes. No additional hub required, reasonably priced and did what I wanted them to which was to change colour depending on what was on screen. I’d had stationary backlights before but having to choose one colour or have them rotate through the rainbow was distracting and didn’t really do much. These lights essentially extend your screen, they make you feel more immersed in what you’re watching and honestly, watching TV without these lights on no longer has the same effect. I have an additional TV which is smaller and unfortunately Govee don’t have these lights in a smaller size otherwise I would order them. These lights aren’t without some negatives though. However for me, the improvement to the viewing experience far outweigh the negative’s. Pros -Completely enhanced viewing experience -Timing of colour changes is nearly always spot on -Makes watching TV more immersive -The option to have them sync to sound or video or remain one colour gives these many uses such as if you’re having a party you can sync them to the music playing on your TV. Price is very reasonable for what you get -No additional hub required- everything you need is in the box -Very easy to connect to Alexa -Great adhesion and even comes with additional clips to keep the lights in place -Very simple to install, the hardest part was taking the TV off the bracket on the wall Cons -Colour isn’t always 100% but for the majority of the time it’s pretty spot on, for colours like brown it’s hard for RGB lights to make a brown colour. -External lighting can affect the accuracy of the colour, especially if the lighting is off to one side -They don’t automatically turn off when you power off the tv as they are plugged into a mains socket Tips if you do buy -Instead of trying to align the orange squares, I’d recommend going on YouTube and finding a Govee light calibration video, there’s one with a black background and red squares that makes getting the middle of the screen far easier. -if you have any issues contact them via the app, they are very responsive and very helpful. Customer service is exceptional.

Good for some
I guess I may be unusual because a I have a slim fit bracket on my tv so essentially makes it impossible for the lumpy weight to sit behind the TV so a little Help from you tube and you can mount the camera underneath and calibrate it like that. Govee support said you can’t but that’s for other reasons. Anyway I got it working from above with the camera best placed and also tried it from below as in picture. Either way it’s pretty good and colour accuracy good and responsive. However it’s only good in a dark room once you get some ambient light or just try to have some seeing light in your room you’ll get some light on the tv and depending on how reflective the tv is will dictate if that light interferes with what the camera sees. I think camera systems will be best only for a room you want to be dark in.
