I bought it for the nib
The Metro is a great pen that people swear by. It is a great value for what you get--a metal body! I love the nibs: always work great right out of the box. The colors are great--from work appropriate to kid-friendly. But honestly the step on the Metro digs right into my fingers because I have a high grip. But the nibs are swappable with my beloved Kakuno and even the Explorer--but they don't come with the option for the "stub" nib which is basically a cursive nib. So I picked it for the nib and will probably donate the body to a friend of mine who loves the Metro. Win-Win!

Great Pen! (stub nib)
I have no complaints regarding unexpected issues. It takes proprietary Pilot cartridges, but that's just how it is. (More on that at the end.) This is my first stub nib, and only my 2nd pen overall. I got it just to toy with line variation in a different nib, and didn't expect it to be so smooth! It's not quite as smooth as my Beirluner M, but it's surprisingly close unless I'm writing very fast. I've used the included Pilot cartridge and Organic Studios "Nitrogen", and they both provide a wonderfully crisp line. I actually end up with my smallest and neatest penmanship with this thing, which isn't at all what I expected. I like the finish, weight, shape, and size of the pen. I'm pretty new to fountain pens, and I'm not consistent with whether I post or not. I've never had an issue with leaks, flow, or sliding my hand up too far and getting ink on my fingers from the feed. To sum this up, I've had zero issues, and a far better writing experience than I expected.

beautiful pen, red, writes between dry and wet
The red color was a deeper metallic red, more professional looking than plasticy, and is a metal pen, with a little weight, but not heavy. It's pretty good in my big hand, I write with it capped, and the cap does stay on well, don't sling it around too much. For people with little hands, this is pretty perfect uncapped. I bought a stub nib, or italic/calligraphy, and it is very noticeable and yet, very smooth and great looking on the paper. I thought the design would look cheesy, but in person, looks really nice. Worth the money. Came in the mail faster than expected. I like that it is not too wet because wet pens lay down a darker line with little shading, this babe will shade!

this is a non tipped stub nib
I like the pen, but I had hoped that this is one of the tipped stub nibs, so instead of dragging a flat piece of steel over the paper, you would drag a small polished bar underneath the nib. That prevents it from snagging and makes the horizontal line thinner and lets you write faster. I had to polish the corners a bit to make this a really smooth writer. Over all very satisfying. I would like a wider stub though, especially if it were tipped. I have a very light hand and write very flat. I often write with a quill and custom made nibs, so I do know what I am talking about with the tipped, once you found one, it is fantastic, but very hard to find in non vintage.

A fun fountain pen.
A fantastic item. The stub nib makes any handwriting look much fancier. The Metropolitan fountain pen is an easy choice. Use cartridges for the best experience. The Con-40 converter seems to make this pen dry out faster than usual.

Best inexpensive pen ever!
What a great pen! I have 5 of these in different colors. I wish Pilot would sell nibs for them. That is my only objection. The “CM” nib (Cursive Medium), is perfect for my everyday writing style. It allows for a small/average size font, but adds the look of calligraphy due to the squared off nib. The 1.00 mm square nib is only available if you buy another pen. Come on Pilot… your making them anyway for your pens. Why not make a run of extras and sell them for $5 each!

Perfect fountain pen in my Hobonichi Cousin. I use with iroshizaki ink and no bleed thru. The nib is lovely for cursive writing and also makes a dynamite stroke for bold lettering

Beautiful pen for a great price
If you're looking to get into fountain pens, look no farther for a great starter pen. This pen writes beautifully and is easy to clean and fill. The red color is so attractive, too. Can't beat the price either. Love my Pilot Metro!
