First Red Heart Classic is different from Red Heart Super saver.  I usually use Super Saver because it's a bigger skein/better price per yard, and available in more colors. At redheart.com Classic solids are listed as 190 yds, and Classic prints as 146 yds. Please see redheart.com for all info you need.

The Super Saver yarn has no dye lot number. It’s all supposed to be the same, without needing to match dye lots.

Why is it so expensive? What justifies the price gouging?

I  think I may have an an answer that I accidentally ran across. I am used to asking Amazon for my need and the picture and price are shown. This time I did that and a few pix and their prices were shown. They all were different companies, all sold thru Amazon. I could buy 1 skein for $11+ , 2 skeins for 10.90, another 2 skeins for $22+, 3 different prices for packs of 3 and 4. It will be so much cheaper for me to buy more packages of the 2 packs of yarn for 10.90. I have to wait a few days but I will be saving about $50 to buy what I need. The afghan I just finished cost me 95+. Buying it from the company that selling the 2 packs will cost me about $66 - big difference for the same yarn bought from the same place. Keep looking around, asking different questions and see what will come up for you
