Significantly reduces mess
I love this. The purchase was for two main reasons and it accomplishes both.1) My parrotlet is mean and I got tired of him biting when we stuck our hand in to feed. This also made it easier for anyone to feed him. The little kids were not willing to help and get bit. Now I can just remind anyone to feed him and it’s easier because it’s on the outside of the cage.2) He is messy AF. This nearly eliminated the mess. Solved.I do believe the reservoir is the best part. When I mix his food with seeds etc, he tends to pick out only what he wants, naturally. Before, the rest of the food would fly everywhere as he digs for his choice. Now, everything just falls in the reservoir, and when it gets full I just pour back into the top. It has saved so much food waste! You still have to know your bird and not just rely on a new feeder to do everything for you. My bird likes to grind his pellets down, so the bottom reservoir gets filled fast. If you don’t want it to make a mess when you pull it out, you can’t wait too long. Know your bird.It holds a lot of food, but I don’t use it for that. It’s not a replacement babysitter. If you’re not going to be home for a week, get a sitter. I have so much sympathy for the patron that said their bird passed after leaving it food for a few days and leaving out of town. And I don’t want to judge, but please don’t rely on a feeder for babysitting. She said in her review that the bigger sized food didn’t fit thru the feeder slot as well as she thought. I am grateful for that review because it made me aware of what to look out for. At the same time, when I poured in the food for the first time, I just naturally checked to see if it was coming out, so…. But still, the review made me more aware, so I make sure to use a chop stick to stir up the bottom if I’m getting paranoid. But with my birds smaller pellets, nothing is an issue. If you have bigger birds and seeds, CHECK BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR BIRD ALONE. But that should be an obvious observation.Best purchase, would buy again if needed.

The most perfect finch feeder I have found!
This feeder lets the birds access the seed from inside the cage but you can fill it from the outside. So convenient! The main part of the feeder is bolted through the cage bars and does not remove or detach easily insuring safety for the birds. The bottom tray for seed litter slides out and empties very easily. This is the best engineered feeder I have found! Keeps my birds well fed for a few days (3-4 finches worth of seed for 3-4 days or more), insures the oldest feed is eaten first, keeps the seed fresh and enclosed, easily separates the fresh seed from the shells (no seed waste), and corrals the seed shells very nicely into an easily emptied tray.Out of all the feeders I’ve had this is the best one I’ve found. Birds are well fed, safe, and my floors are cleaner and more free of seed litter than ever before.

that birds like it and use it. feeder they like but not the water container they won't use it.
my birds like the feeder but not the water container it has no perch or way to sit on it to drink. Tried regular perch in front of it and they won't use it. The holder is not any good won't go through bars have to use door and sits at an angle so water does go in it very well..

Highly recommend!
Once my bird got over it being different than his old feeder, it's great. A lot less mess!

Missing metal disk, very finicky to put up
Conceptually it's good. Attaching the feeders to the cage is a different story. Very finicky and time consuming to attach. On top of that each feeder only came with one metal disk for safty/protection. Will see how long it will take for the plastic to crack because of that. And the catcher for the empty seed shells is tiny.Update: Reduced to 1 star. AFter using it for 4 days bird food stopped moving down. I only added food for parakeet. Technically that size of seed should have worked.

Don’t have to remember daily feeding for my keet
It works pretty well although it looks flimsey. I just have to be careful but it does save me the worry of running out of seed.

Very Beneficial Addition
I wanted to share my experience with this feeder, as I've noticed several benefits compared to traditional food bowls. Initially, I was advised against purchasing one by the pet store employee I adopted my parakeets from. However, after using it, I genuinely wish I had gotten it sooner. The bottom tray that catches broken seeds is a thoughtful design feature, and the ability to refill the feeder from outside the cage makes it incredibly convenient. Since switching, I've observed that my birds eat less overall, spend more time playing and foraging, and exhibit significantly less territorial behavior—something that was quite common with standard food bowls.I highly recommend this feeder to any parakeet owner. I currently have two in my cage (which is fairly tall), with one placed near the bottom. It's been a great addition to our setup.
