Buy Harry Potter: Magical Places from the Films 1 by Jody Revenson (ISBN: 9781783296026) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Brilliant! - Having read both “Harry Potter the Character Vault” and “Harry Potter the Creature Vault” I was looking forward to getting my hands on “Harry Potter: Magical Places from the Films”, the third book in this series. I’d asked for the book for Christmas but unfortunately I didn’t get it and I decided I couldn’t wait any longer and quickly bought it off desertcart (along with Harry Potter Film Wizardry, which I’m waiting to arrive). I absolutely adore this book. I won’t lie, I also have “Harry Potter from Page to Screen” and there is overlap between the two books but it is really nice to have something of a more manageable size to have a look through. Magical Places from the films takes us through several Harry Potter sets including the Dursley’s house, Diagon Alley, Kings Cross Station, Hogwarts (its grounds and classrooms), Hogsmeade, The Ministry of Magic and finally Wizarding Homes (such as the Burrow and Godric’s Hollow). For each section we are presented with beautiful concept arts, design work, art work as well as screen caps and production photographs. There is also lovely commentary as to how sets came about, how their filming locations were chosen, how they were filmed (including many secrets – you’ll never look at Harry Potter the same way), as well as information as to where they were filmed (in the studio or on location, and if so where these locations are). All in all this is a beautiful book, a must for any Harry Potter fan and I am really pleased to have it in my collection. Yes some places are missed out and there could be more detail about some of the locations but that doesn’t worry me too much as there are so many beautiful pictures and it’s so full of information and I just love it! It is a large hardback book with good quality pages filled with writing and large pictures taken on film sets and concept art. There is also a map of Gringott's bank, a small booklet of paintings in Hogwart's and a pull out map of Diagon Alley. It includes info on how and why sets were designed the way they were and the places they were filmed in. Also includes how they made some of the sets in the studios. Includes most places in the films such as the shops in Diagon Alley, pubs, most of the Hogwart's rooms and grounds including Hagrid's Hut and the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade and the Shrieking Shack, the Dursley's house, the Burrow and more. Although it is quite pricey, it is worth the price. If you are a Harry Potter fan, add this to your collection!

Just brilliant!!!!!!!!!!
Ok - so Im Harry Potter mad - but this book is brilliant! I'd already got Film Wizardry and Page to screen and Creature Vaults and I wondered how this was going to compare. Its fantastic. Evereything you ever wanted to know about all the places in the film....from Hogwarts to Hogsmede to Diagon Alley and lots more. Its full of previosuly unseen art work and you get a little booklet on the paintings in Hogwarts and a removeable map of Diagon Alley. Its full of glossy pictures and well written information and little tit bits you just didnt know....It kept me quiet for hours. So if you are a Harry Potter fan then this is a real must for you. If you know a Harry Potter fan then treat them to this - they will love you forever.

Great Read for Set Fanatics
Love this book! As someone interested in set design this book was extremely intriguing to me, seeing the drawing plans and photos of the models was impressive. A great read. The extra posters are always a plus with this collection of books 😊

Another excellent book from the Harry Poter collection. It arrived in perfect condition. Indispensable for the true fans of the Harry Potter movie saga and to know how the filmmakers were inspired to create the fabulous places that exist in this magical world.

Harry Potter: Magical Places from the Films is actually one of the books from the Harry Potter Page to Screen Collector's Edition . In that collector's edition, the book was titled Environments Envisioned: Building Fantastic Sets and Scouting Dramatic Locations. I don't have the collector's edition, so I can't compare the exact contents, so I'll just talk about this book alone. I only have the standard edition of Harry Potter Page to Screen so the first thing I want to say is it's great to have this book sold separately rather than bundling it into the pricey collector's edition. Sure it took a long time for it for come out but it's more affordable, and all fans can enjoy the book now. This is a large 208-page hardcover film companion. The cover has a nice design with trimmings embossed. The presentation is beautiful and the same can be said about the layout inside. The pages are filled with behind the scenes photography, film stills and lots of commentary. Fans will no doubt find it extremely satisfying to delve into the information and revisit the Harry Potter world again -- I know I did. This book focuses on the locations and sets. There are environment concept art, stories on how the sets were build, what was filmed there, how the props were created, how the sets relate to the movie and the book, and many other bits of interesting details. There are nine chapters and they are Dursley's House Diagon Alley King's Cross Station Hogwarts Castle Hogwarts Classrooms and Offices Hogwarts Grounds Hogsmeade Ministry of Magic Wizarding Homes Highly recommended to all Harry Potter fans. It's the only way to "visit" all the grounds without being growled by Snape. Another thing to note is there are two publishers for this book, Harper Design and Titan Books. Depending on where you buy it, the price of the book will differ. (See more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)
