Top quality and protection
I’ve been a loyal OtterBox user for years, outfitting every iPhone and iPad I’ve owned with their Defender series cases. They’ve always delivered top-tier rugged protection, and I’ve been completely satisfied with the build quality and — most importantly — their outstanding customer support. I bought this Defender case for my iPad 10th generation about three years ago, and it has held up incredibly well through daily use, drops, and travel. The multi-layer design (hard shell + outer slipcover + port covers) has kept my iPad scratch-free and safe, and the overall protection is still as reliable as day one. The only issue I’ve encountered is with the built-in tilt-adjusting stand mechanism. After three years of regular use (adjusting it frequently for viewing and typing), two of the little plastic nubs that help lock the stand into position finally broke off. It was disappointing, as the stand no longer holds securely in certain angles. That said, OtterBox’s customer service stepped up as they always do. I submitted a warranty claim, and they promptly replaced the entire case at no cost for the product itself — I only paid $12.99 for shipping. No hassle, quick turnaround, and they honored their commitment even after three years. Overall, this is still one of the best rugged cases you can get for the iPad 10th gen. The minor stand wear is something I’ve seen mentioned in a few other reviews over time, but the protection and peace of mind (plus their willingness to replace it) make it well worth it. Highly recommend for anyone who needs serious drop and dirt protection — just be aware the stand components may eventually need that warranty love after heavy, long-term use. Would buy again? Yes — and I’d happily go through the warranty process if needed.

Protected an iPad run over by multiple cars!
I put a slightly older version of this on my son’s iPad a couple years ago along with a decent glass screen protector. (I knew my son would probably be rough with the iPad.) Then a couple weeks ago, a family member accidentally set my son’s iPad down on top of his car, forgot it was there, and drove away. By the time he realized his mistake, the iPad had fallen off and had been directly run over by multiple cars. We assumed the iPad would be toast. But to my great surprise, the only thing broken was the screen protector and the front cover part of the Otterbox case (which had only minimal crack damage). The actual iPad was completely fine - no damage at all, and it works perfectly! Needless to say, I bought a new Otterbox Defender iPad case to replace the old one. That was pretty much the ultimate test of its strength, and it passed with flying colors. Buy this case - it’s awesome and crazy strong!

You OTTER buy a Defender series case- it rocks!
Longtime user of Otterbox Defender series for my IPhones....so getting the same protection for my new IPad was a no brainer. LOVE their products, QUALITY, and fit. TRIPLE protected, screen protected, and a foldout "foot" in the rear to prop up your device. And I flip/reverse my Pad around in the case when travelling, to protect the screen even more so. You can view it landscape or portrait w/ the foot at full/middle deflection. However: That plastic foot- it's functionality...sliding within plastic tracks, is a weak point; "sticking" within the tracks....requiring two hands to finesse and free. It's also appears very fragile. Weak design point.

Not Rugged. Not Heavy Duty. Not Durable.
This was the most overpriced, flimsiest piece of junk I've ever had the displeasure of purchasing from OtterBox. You are paying for the name, only. Literally one week past the return window and the flimsy little back stand piece broke. Terrible design. Small points of failure. Compared to the one I had on my 7th Gen, this one for the A16 is just pure garbage. Why would you charge so much and put so much emphasis into durability and then put this cheap back stand on it. Very disappointed in the value of this particular case, as, at least in my experience, it was not there at all. Then, the salt and lemon juice in the wound, after the stupid thing breaks, I have to PAY to submit a warranty claim. Are you kidding me? Amazon won't help because it is outside the return window and OtterBox wants me to pay, after I already paid close to $100 for a "Rugged, Heavy Duty" case that broke in less than 60 days of ownership. Buyer's beware. YMMV.

Not bad, but could be better.
I'm not really gonna get into how the delivery person somehow managed to stuff this into our community mailbox. That is a story for another day. What I will say is that I agree with those who have made a comment about how difficult it is to open and close the back stand. That is until, as another reviewer stated, it is "broken in". After working it for a while, I figured out that all you have to do to allow it to close easily is to grab underneath those two bottom pieces (indicated with blue lines around it) pull up perpendicular (both at the same time) to the surface of the backing and guide it to the closed position. The reason it is getting stuck is because, on the way back to the closing position it naturally wants to fall back into the position indentations (also probably caused by how bendy the plastic is). If, while closing it, you prevent it from falling down into those position indentations, and keep it on the top track, it will close easily. Seems like a minor design flaw given the fact that when using the Otterbox, the iPad is fairly "tanky" and can take a beating. Still though, it is kind of a pain in the rectal cavity having paid that amount of money and then having to get an engineering degree in Otterbox'ology to solve its little problem. Oh well, I'm happy with it anyway, and suffered no buyers remorse.

Great product
We had a little fire mishap with my kiddos back pack (everyone’s safe) — iPad in perfect condition, the case completely caught on fire. Great product!

OtterBox quality has seriously declined
Price was very good when I purchased. $47.99. I have bought OtterBox cases for my iPads and phones for over 15 years. I have really trusted them with their extreme padding and durability. This case overall feels thinner and more flimsy. The plastic protection is very light, the plastic case is very light, the silicone bumper seems extremely thin. Big gap where you would be able to put Apple Pencil. I have an iPad Pro case that has a very nice flap cover for an Apple Pencil. This absolutely has nothing and it’s just exposed. I’m keeping the case because I don’t feel like doing extensive research to find another one. Many cases have weird plastic smells, and OtterBox does not. I would not buy this again. I hope OtterBox will start making better cases again!

Case + loose screen protector
This is a big case. but it is pointlessly over complicated and cheap materials used. The description on Amazon only points towards it being a case but it is actually as case + screen protector, but the screen protector is fixed to the case, not the iPad, so it bulges and would trap dust between the screen and protector, so this is really a poor design that is exaggerated by very poor materials. From the iPad's perspective it might not provide the best protection when it comes to dust or debris getting between the iPad and the case: as mentioned the screen protector bulges away from the screen and the interface between the iPad and the case is hard plastic (except hor the rear of the iPad where some membrane is present).

Protegge al meglio, anche se non è proprio semplice da montare.
Ottimo prodotto, multi layaer, con vetro di protezione integrato offre una sicurezza di livello superiore ad ogni altra cover "tradizionale".

Always the best cases from Otterbox. We use them across all phones and tablets. Always a quality item.

Great protection when paired with tempered glass for screen
I paired this with tempered glass protectors suggested with purchase (JETech?) for my new A16 iPad and it has held up well, and is the best suited for customers or gift recipients who have ataxia (poor motor coordination due to neurological disorders) or clumsiness, epilepsy, transient ischemic attacks (TIA’s/“mini strokes”) and/or narcolepsy.
