The Fault in Our Stars

A real tear-jerker of a film, though not overly sentimental (go figure). To quote Sugarscope on the sleeve, "Five stars. We'd give it six if we could." I totally concur. A masterpiece of a movie. This package comes with a Blu-ray disc (5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio) and an extended version (although at 127 minutes it's the same runtime as the blu-ray) on DVD (5.1 Dolby Digital). Although it also claims to include a Digital HD Ultraviolet download, the code to reclaim that expired at the end of 2017. Despite that, it's extremely good value.

Based on the hugely successful novel by John Greene The Fault In Our Stars follows the story of two teenagers, Hazel and Gus, who meet at a cancer support group. Initially I was wary of the emotional minefield ahead but The Fault In Our Stars is more than just a cancer story. Yes, the story is heartbreaking but it is also expertly shot and utterly captivating. Definitely one of the lovliest, most moving films that I have seen. One of those films, where from the cover alone, you can't really determine too much in terms of guessing what the content may be like. Which I often find are the best. This very modestly delivers one of the most moving, thought provoking performances. I have bought this many times for friends. As someone who has lost someone who was extremely close to me in life, I empathised with this film whole heartedly. However the acting is so strong alone, that if you haven't personally been affected by this life altering subject, you feel as though you are connected with the characters and are experiencing the journey with them. I would recommend that everyone watches this, it's a film that certainly stays with you.

I bought this for my partner for Christmas after seeing an advert for it on YouTube. I'm not a fan of love stories being a guy I love my comedies and action etc. however hands down one of the best films I have ever seen ever. It's very believable.the acting is spot on and the story itself is deep and unforgettable. I was hoping it was not going to be farfetched like the notebook. Thank go it was not. Had me in tears as much as I tried to hold them back. Fellas trust me it's a hit with the ladies. Simply beautiful

I got the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital edition. It was advertised as used but when it arrived it was still sealed, so it was new. The digital code 'expired' in 2017 but I tried it and it still worked. The movie is amazing as it displays hope and is an amazing love story for everyone to enjoy. The 4 bonus photos are a bonus and it love them so much. For all 3 formats of the film for £1.60, I would highly recommend it for everyone around the ages of 12 to 30.

I had already seen this film and I loved it so I wanted to buy it on dvd. When I chose the delivery options I didn't want to pay for quicker delivery so I just chose 3-5 day delivery and to my surprise it came today - which is thhe next day - I ordered this late at night and it came he next day with my other post! I am really happy with this and surprised at the quick delivery and I would definitely tell you to just chose standard delivery instead of paying for it! It wasn't damaged and everything was fine! A must buy! Best film ever! Just don't forget your tissues!

Bought this for my wife as she seemed to like the book! However 3/4s of the way through the book this feeling had changed to a dissapointment. I was shocked how her thoughts on the book had changed and had already bought this dvd for her birthday. The great news is that she like me really enjoyed the film and thought the acting was superb. My wife felt that the film conveyed alot more feeling into it and therefore kept her enthrauled. We have even lent and recommended this to friends. Happy watching guys!

This DVD was beautifully made, I have read John Greens book and have to say this was a brilliant screenplay. Obviously as ever in a film sections of the book have to be left out but the great thing about this film is whilst bits are left out due to time restraints etc there is rarely a thing that is changed. The characters were just how I had imagined them prior to watching and I just loved it!!! If you love the book I really believe you will enjoy this film. If you haven't read the book then you're an idiot!!

Schon das Buch von John Green hat mich sehr bewegt und war wundervoll facettenreich erzählt, komische Momente und Ironie, aber auch unfassbar traurige Momente gepaart mit einer wunderschönen, bewegenden Liebesgeschichte. Die Erwartung an die Verfilmung war dementsprechend hoch und sie wurde soagr noch übertroffen. "Das Schicksal ist ein mieser Verräter" ("The Fault in our Stars") wurde ein wunderschöner Film, die Geschichte ist echt und authentisch erzählt und hat mich echt umgehauen. Ich habe seit langem keinen so emotionalen und gleichzeitig wichtigen Film mehr gesehen. Auf intensive Weise erlebt man als Zuseher die Emotionen und Facetten dieses Films, was in erster Linie an den fantastischen Schauspielern liegt. Die beiden Hauptdarsteller Shailene Woodley und Ansel Elgort sind dabei herausragend und entwickeln auf der Leinwand eine unglaublich starke Chemie, die über den ganzen Film spürbar ist und vor allem so authentisch und echt wirkt, dass man manchmal vergisst, dass dies gespielt ist. Neben den Schauspielern macht auch die hervorragende Musikzusammenstellung diesen Film zu einer emotionalen und intensiven Erfahrung, die einzelnen Musikstücke sind perfekt gewählt, tauchen im richtigen Moment auf und tragen in gewissen Passagen die Emotionalität der Handlung mit. Birdy, Ed Sheeran oder Kodaline sind nur einige der Künstler, die wunderschöne Lieder für diesen Film geschrieben haben. Dieser Film ist ein absolutes Meisterwerk und geht auf verschiedene Weisen mit der Krankheit Krebs um, mal werden ironische und komische, fröhliche Momente gezeigt, mal ebenso zutiefst traurige und bewegende Augenblicke. Der Film schafft es mit Leichtigkeit die fröhlichen Momente, als auch mit gnadenloser Härte die traurigen Momente mit derselben Intensität an die Zuschauer zu transportieren. Menschen besitzen trotz einer solch todbringenden Krankheit die Fähigkeit, sich nicht auf die Krankheit zu reduzieren, was der Film eindrucksvoll zeigt. Wie sagt Gus in dem Film so schön: "Erzähl mir was über dich, nicht über deine Krankheit". "Das Schicksal ist ein mieser Verräter" zeigt auch, dass Menschen im Umfeld oft dazu neigen, Menschen aufgrund ihrer todbringenden Krankheit anders zu behandeln, sie zu bemitleiden, ihnen oft das Gefühl geben anders zu sein. Deswegen tat es gut zu sehen, dass die Protagonisten in der Lage waren, ihre Krankheit, die eigene Situation durch Humor erträglicher zu machen. Dieser Film ist einer der besten, die ich je gesehen habe und ein absoluter Pflichtkauf. Ich habe vorher noch nie während eines Films geweint, doch "Das Schicksal ist ein mieser Verräter" hat es geschafft. War ich während der Story schon immer wieder den Tränen nahe, bin ich am Ende des Films, als Gus Hazel erzählt, dass er sterben wird, bei Gus "geprobter" Beerdigung und den Worten von Hazel über ihn und auch bei Gus' Tod in Tränen ausgebrochen. Sehr bewegend, intensiv und in erster Linie authentisch. Sehr realitätsnah und toll gemacht! Der Film ist wirklich sehenswert!
