Couldn't find anything online when I searched, but it's a 5400rpm drive so definitely the "black" here is pure marketing. As are performances, I assume it has a bit of cache as I could reach the claimed speeds on a drive benchmark test, but in normal use speeds are just on par with any external 5400rpm disk. **Q: Is this smr or cmr?** A: It's a device managed SMR drive inside **Q: Is there any physical difference between the pc and xbox versions? is it faster and more reliable than the wd my book?** A: The 12TB Game Drive is faster than most external drives. Using it on a USB3.0 port I get 200 to 250MB/s. If you only get 80MB/s something is wrong, or you have it in a USB2 port. Most other external drives only achieve about 100MB/s. **Q: can this be used with a pc/laptop or is this made for just xbox?** A: I've not used it with a PC, but the data sheet says it's compatible with Windows 8.1 and 10, so I don't see why not.
