I’ve developed allergies, IBS, and stomach ulcers. Now my A1C is 6.1, and I have insulin resistance. I also LOVE snacking—so now I’m wondering why I ended up with all these issues…Recently, I decided I needed to stop what I was doing. My face and hands felt and looked swollen, so I bought a blood glucose kit. 4 weeks ago, my fasting blood glucose was 123. After I cut out a lot of carbs and sugar and started stopping eating at 6 PM, within a few weeks my fasting glucose dropped to 80. I also lost weight—from 142 to 137 within 4 weeks!.My goal is 130, but ideally I’d like to get back to 125 so I can feel better mentally and physically.

The machine appears good quality. There are two instructions, one for the machine, which has a large enough print with glasses for my elderly eyes. However the instructions on the use of the spring-loaded lancet poker is very small, I needed a magnifying glass. The instructions did not include that I can see, how to do a control test strip, but that could have been my poor eyesight. The machine read accurately. I did have trouble with the lancet poker. It was fickle and I ended up just lancing the skin myself. I poke well. I need more practice with it. But, having used glucose machines and pokers before, this one didn't seem as solid of a design. Also, you have to twist off a cap to insert the lancet. I prefer a different design. There was a meter to measure the depth of the skin from 1-10, I think. There were no instructions on what number 1 would poke and setting 10 might poke. So it's trial and error. So will try the poker again later on. Everything is packaged well. The bottom of the box was open but everything was there.

Even after adjusting the depth settings, the lancing device sometimes fails to draw sufficient blood for the test strip, necessitating multiple attempts. This not only adds to the discomfort of an already unpleasant task but also leads to wastage of the lancets and test strips. Speaking of test strips, another aspect I found frustrating was their packaging. They are bundled in a large container instead of individually wrapped or packaged in smaller groups. This can potentially expose a large number of strips to humidity or contamination once opened, possibly impacting their performance over time. On a more positive note, the kit is quite compact and portable, making it suitable for travel or use outside of the home. The meter itself is straightforward to use with a large, clear display. However, these features do not offset the significant issues mentioned earlier.
