follow the prescribed hand measurement instructions for a good fit. This product does work for me. returns? as always i have been very satisfied with the Amazon return policies. I do not know what your son's issues are but my hand never fully recovered from a stroke in 2019. I will use this dailey over the next year not just a short term and see. my short term use has been positive so far
