Worth every penny
I actually saw people on YouTube talking about and using these filters and they said they were really good plus the addition of the heater in the filter is awesome so no longer have a big long glass tube in middle of the tank and helps to make the tank even more natural for the fish as for the filter it’s self it’s working great my water was clear or so I thought beforehand but now it’s crystal clear very impressive filter comes with two bags of carbon 3 sponge and ceramic rings all fits perfectly in it’s own space in the filter and easy to clean and change anything around add or reduce the filter media as you like but the basic filter as it comes is more then enough

Good but not a BioMaster.
Good canister filter. Removable tube connector unit makes it easy to separate the canister for cleaning without much spillage (I still recommend placing it in a bucket first, though). Best thing is the noise level... there is none. Once the air is flushed out, it's virtually silent. The removable internal heater does the trick and the temperature dial is accurate. There are two drawbacks. Firstly, these small Oasé filters have no media trays so, while supplied sponges (if you use them) are easy to remove and clean, biological media has to be physicaly tipped out like you're emptying a coal scuttle. Secondly there's no flow control. Unlike the BioMaster models, you can't restrict flow by moving a lever on the connector unit. That said, on this and on BioMasters, I use Eheim dual valves (see photo) to adjust flow. They're also useful for separating the inlet/outflow pipes without leakage so you can move the canister for cleaning. Thirdly (NO ONE expects the Spanish Inquisition!), there's no separately removable pre-filter like the BioMasters. It's a good nano aquarium filter and terrific if you want to run it in a location where noise levels are important. Plus it's a canister so there's no electricity cables anywhere near your aquarium when you need to stick your hands in the water. If you have the money, I'd recommend a small BioMaster cos they have media trays and removable pre-filters. If you don't have the money for a BioMaster and need a really quiet canister with plenty of room for media of your choice, this is an excellent option.

Not One But Two Exact Same Fault
Faulty on arrival, replacement filter also faulty with the exact same issue. Looks a good filter but I never managed to set it up as the hose connector is meant to twist and unlock. The connector on mine is stuck no matter what it won’t come off, this was confirmed by the seller upon return. Same issue with the replacement it’s stuck fast. Check on the web as there are numerous reports of this happening. I approached the manufacturer who basically said it’s not our issue it’s the seller. Really frustrating and disappointing service from the manufacturer. Do not buy this filter.

Not enough tubing
This filter is too noisy. It made a loud humming sound. Loads of space to use alternative media to the supplied coarse foam. There wasn't supplied long enough tubing to do both in and out. I had to order more tubing. In the filter it's all coarse foam, so for better filtering you need to add general medium and and fine floss to improve filtering. Tip. You need to completely fill it with water to the brim to submerge the impeller. Minus -There is no facility to cut off the intake and outtake flow for when you enter the filter. Otherwise it's a good filter

Compact
Been up and running for around 3weeks now. It’s working fine and the temperature is consistent. Nice not having a filter and heater in the aquarium makes it look cleaner. Overall very happy. I did change the Lilly pipes for stainless steel as this also adds to the look. It’s also really quiet and compact.

Noisy and failing heaters
I've had the filtosmart 100 running for a couple of months and to be honest, I hate it. I'm stuck with it because I cannot find another small filter with a heater built in. I have had numerous leaks, the clips can pop off and it's practically impossible to prime this filter. The heater is terrible too. I'm on my second heater and that has just failed - thermostat will not kick in. The other problem with these heaters is that they struggle to heat the water. I have this running on a 55L tank and I cannot get the temperature above 24°C even with the heater turned up to full The noise generated from the pump is bad, too. The whole filter will vibrate and the rubber feet do little to prevent the droning noise. I have to wrap it up in a towel to suppress as much of the noise as I can. I certainly wouldn't recommend the filtosmart to anybody.
