Phenomenal resource for anyone looking to start lifting, build muscle, or break through plateaus!
Fantastic book with solid, actionable information, all explained clearly in a way that reads more conversational than textbook style. Everything is backed up with solid scientific evidence (with sources cited) that helps explain the reasoning behind the most effective exercises, training splits, and more. This is not just a dry list of workouts and splits, it is a comprehensive guide to how (and why) to build and maintain muscle, strength, and a healthy physique. The "ladder" metaphor works well to build from fundamentals like sustainability all the way to 20 detailed workout plans, with everything in between. Overall, this is an exceptional book that distills so much useful information into an easy to read, well organized, and extremely high-quality package.

Smart Training for Real Muscle Growth
The Muscle Ladder by Jeff Nippard is an exceptionally practical and well-structured guide for anyone who wants to build muscle in a more intelligent, sustainable way. What makes this book stand out is its clear focus on doing the right things in the right order, rather than simply training harder. It helped me better understand how small improvements in technique, programming, and recovery can lead to significantly better results over time. What I appreciated most is the concept of the “Muscle Ladder,” which organizes training priorities from most to least important. It reinforced that mastering technique, choosing the right exercises, and training close enough to failure matter far more than advanced methods. The explanations around mechanical tension, proper volume, and realistic rep ranges were especially helpful, as they simplify a topic that often feels overly complicated. I also liked the reminder that advanced techniques are just a “small cherry on top,” not the foundation of progress. This book gave me a clearer, more confident approach to improving in the gym without overthinking every detail. It encouraged me to focus on consistency, quality effort, and smart progression rather than chasing extremes. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to train more effectively and see steady, long-term results.

Comprehensive Guide For Beginners
My book arrived in perfect shape and is really a gorgeous book. I feel bad for folks that got one with damaged. Anyway the content is very solid. Nothing earth shattering and honestly and if you follow Jeff and are somewhat up to date on the field you aren't going to learn much of anything new. Honestly my favorite chapters were the early chapters on habits and motivation. I feel like that is often overlooked aspect fitness that more folks need to hear. A lot of the later chapters are just hitting the high points on the topic which Jeff admits. Clearly, entire books have been written on a lot of the stuff that Jeff is only able to touch like hydration, sleep, supplements, squat technique, periodization etc... I'm torn on my rating as I think it might be the best book you could recommend to someone that was new to lifting but I don't think that is the audience and most beginners aren't going to be spending this much for a book.

Great quality, even better read
Jeff Nippard is brilliant, what more can I say? I'm studying to become a personal trainer while training/prepping for a bodybuilding competition, so this is an excellent tool right now. You can't beat a science based read that you put into practice. Next to that, the quality of the print is fantastic!

Jeff's hit another home run
Jeff, in classical form, provides a stellar compendium of knowledge and guidance based on his nearly 20 years of experience in a very approachable manner that actively seeks to invite people into the space rather than scare away. The book is written in a clear way that emphasizes foundations first and continues to climb "up the ladder" as one advances in strength training. As with all of Jeff's content, super humble, no ego. Anything isn't comfortable calling fact due to lack of scientific evidence he'll call out and expand upon, acknowledging pros / cons, and emphasizing one size does not fit all for any given individual. I think beginners (like myself) who are just getting into strength training more seriously will find tons of value here. Combine that with something like "Rebuilding Milo" to help understand pains / stresses as you go through the journey will give you a great foundation that is easy to approach.

A great in depth look at weight / strength training.
This book is fantastic. The overall book is based an a ladder, with each chapter being one rung of this ladder. Each chapter builds upon the previous, meaning that it order to get the best out of the information contained within, the reader should go through each chapter step by step. Each chapter contains a good amount of well researched and referenced scientific material. There are several studies sited within each chapter and thankfully these are referenced at the back of the book, (this reader knows of several books, which claim to reference scientific studies, but fail to site them). The chapters of proper technique (chapter 3), which exercises are best suited for your intended outcome (chapter 4) and organising your training over prolonged periods of time (chapter 13) are of particularly good quality. That being said, each chapter is very well written and presented. The author thankfully is not some self absorbed gym-bro personality, so references to how amazingly ripped the author is are thankfully rare. If this reader was to criticise, then they would say that this book is physically big and heavy. This is not the type of book you would want to be carrying around with you or try to read on an over crowded train or bus. And it's not exactly the cheapest book as well. But that's it really. Overall, this is a fantastic book and definitely should be on any weight or strength lifters' wish list.
