Best version I've seen
This is the most in depth version of this book I've seen. Some people have reviewed this as 'heavy going' but you have to bare in mind that the forwards are taken from much, much older editions with older language with longer words. Some of the Iching itself is translated from old Chinese language that no longer exists and in some cases has been difficult to translate. I think some knowledge of basic Chinese philosophy may be beneficial prior to reading. In my personal opinion, I'd say this was the best version I've seen - I've already learned and understood more in this book about the Iching than from any other publications. I shall no doubt, read it more than once.

Sort of like the old sages we hear about
This is a book that doesn't ask for attention or praise. It is just quietly there for you when you come upon it, without trying to prove itself. Sort of like the old sages we hear about. So what more can I say? If you are interested you will find your own answers, that's what it is about after all. It addresses all the complex sides of human nature, more humanly than our one sided causality modern view today. So different to the world we live in today, and so so refreshing.

The content is your essential I-Ching, but this copy feels cheap
I'm writing this review on behalf of my son who I bought the book for. He said: "Unlike Carl Jung in his introduction, I didn't ask the I-Ching before writing this. The Richard Wilhelm translation is the definitive/must-have rendering of the I-Ching, and this edition is exactly that, with the lovely introduction by Carl Jung. I can't criticize the content, except to say ... be wary, this is potentially a very dangerous book if used without appropriate understanding (and psychological soundness). It's just a shame the book is bound with a cheap-looking, plasticky, reflective cover which does take away from the mystique a little. I'd recommend not purchasing this first-hand here and instead find yourself a nice, slightly battered copy, if you want to add a bit more mood or mystery to proceedings."

brings out the beauty of the i ching
I have had a few i ching books - I've had this one for years and bought it for others. This translation is the best & most comprehensive imo. I'm surprised people are giving it bad reviews, saying they can't understand it or it's 'heavy reading' - it's a very ancient text, not Russel Grant's horoscope. It comes from a world very different to ours and some of it needs to be transposed into a meaningful message for modern times and the specific issue in question - that is the job of the reader, not the author. One reviewer said it contradicts itself - life contradicts itself. The i ching isn't about fortune telling - it's an oracle that predicts what will happen if the current situation plays out. It isn't about set destinies, it's about cause & effect. If you go into this book deeply enough you will be amazed at the system and wisdom within. Wilhelm illuminates this better than anyone I have read so far & the added bonus of Jung makes this book well worth the money. I used mine so much the back pages have started falling out but I don't resent buying another copy. I wouldn't be without this book in my library.

Brilliant!
It's the I Ching; what can I say but that the content is brilliant! The thick book itself is pretty light considering it has more than 700 pages. The cover has creased and looks worn, but that, for me, personalizes the tome. Nevertheless, when travelling I keep the book inside the Amazon envelope it arrived in.

Book lightly damaged on cover
Book is the I Ching translated by Richard Wilhelm. Arrived with scratches and scuff markings the front and a small stain of some sort on the page edges on top. Not particularly impressed

A classic with a introduction by Jung I am happy to have on my bookshelf
A classic with a introduction by Jung I am happy to have on my bookshelf. Without my study of traditional Chinese Medicine and other books on Chinese philosophy I am not sure if I would have appreciated the book the way I do now as it provides little guidance on the 'mechanics' of the YiJing and e.g. differences between the KingWen and FuXi version of the model described.

This the finest English version of the famous I CHING ever published. It is a classic.
This superb version of the ancient I CHING Chinese Classic is full of important understanding of human situations and life and its hexagrams predict real life situation in its own often indirect and unique style, which requires a considerable degree of self-knowledge and perception by those seeking answers to situations in their lives. The historic forward by Carl Jung really says it all.

Why is my book written backwards?
Hello. I am curious to find out why my book is written backwards. Literally. The book begins at the end of the book. And ends in the beginning. I will try to attach a photo. As you will see page 4 is on the right and page 5 on the left. Ah I was also able to attach a video.

Very cheap book
This is a reference book, and it is made to be use only once. They used very poor-quality paper and no wonder they did not gave use access to the inside page, because you would have saw the bad lettering. Try to find this amazing book somewhere else.
