Will this put a particularly long bevel on the lead? I have a holder that I like, but doesn't keep the leads far back enough - the tips poke out.

I am not quite sure what you mean so what I have done is sharpened a lead and taken a couple of photos and added them to my review of the sharpener so you can see what they look like. The pen is a Lamy scribble. Hope this helps.

how long must a lead be to be able to use this sharpener, I have very short lead (2cm) for compass? Or I should buy the mini finger-held sharpener?

The depth of the lead in the hole is 1cm so I suspect it would soon be a struggle with just a 2 cm lead. I have no idea what the mini finger held sharpener is so can’t comment on its suitability.

would this take a 3.8 lead ?

Biggest ive got is 3.2 and theres deffo room to spare , so id think its enough but unsure as dont have any 3.8

Is this suitable for aber castell polychromos pencils?
