Surprisingly effective and easy to use, although the instructions are in tiny print!
I bought this 'Espresso Brown' dye with the intention of dying two old cotton throws, each of which was approx 1.2m square, and which had previously been dyed bright orange several years ago. The total dry weight of fabric was about 1.6kg, which is greater than the maximum weight stated for one pod of dye, but all I wanted to do was to tone down the existing colour. I had expected that I might end up with a sort of terracotta shade, but wasn't really too concerned about the end result, so figured that it was worth a punt using a single dye pod. I gave the throws a quick pre-wash to leave them damp and then followed the pack instructions, emptying the contents straight into the machine drum as indicated for larger quantities of fabric, and putting it through two full cotton cycles, with detergent added in the second cycle. The end result is an even coverage, and the shade is a rich 'chocolate' brown, not much lighter than the shade indicated by the manufacturer, which was surprising given the excess weight of fabric I was using. There was no staining left behind in the machine or on the door seals, despite the alarmingly dark colour during the process. All in all the product was easy to use and produced better results than I expected. My only criticism is that the instructions are printed on a long narrow strip of paper in tiny letters less than 1mm high, and are in white on a black background, which makes it very difficult to read. My eyesight is fine for reading most things, but even with reading glasses on I also needed a magnifying glass to read the instructions properly.

Easy to use and does a fantastic job.
I bought this to dye a skirt that was 50% linen and 50% cotton. I knew it should dye natural fibres so I thought it ought to work OK. The skirt was originally beige and I chose Espresso Brown. You prewash the item then put the container, with all its packaging removed, in the washing machine on top of the item. Essentially the container then looks like a large version of those dosing balls you use to add detergent to your wash. You then put it on a full cycle at either 30 or 40 degrees, depending on the fabric of your item, without detergent. At the end of the cycle you remove the container and then wash your item with detergent on another full cycle. Then you have to put the washing machine on with detergent but empty to wash out any dye residue. That's 3 full cycles and it took about ten hours for my machine which could be seen as a downside. The results have exceeded my expectations. It is now a rich, dark chocolate brown. It's even and deep and uniform in its colour. It looks as though it was made that way. It has, however, not dyed the thread that the skirt was sewn with, which I assume is 100% polyester. I don't mind this at all as because of the style of the skirt ( a sort of cargo style with pockets, fabric ties and a lot of top stitching) it just looks as though it's meant to have contrast stitching. With a normal garment which didn't have top stitching like my skirt, you probably would never see the thread so this would not be an issue. I am utterly delighted both with the simplicity of the process and the outcome. In the past I've dyed things with those little tins they used to have which required you to buy and add large quantities of salt and it was a complicated and messy process which didn't always give you good results. This is simple, fool-proof and clean. You just have to make sure you're dying an item that is 100% natural fibres. A great product.

No fuss dyeing.
Good coverage I dyed a 100% white bedsheet which came out nicely. I had to go online for instructions as the instructions that cane with the pod were just too small to read. Fuss free and nice result. Natural fabrics absorb the colour better. I used a 100โ% Cotten sheet and threw in another couple of sheets too that werenโt 100% so the colour was not as dramatic. The results I got were perfect for me.

Perfect coverage, no mess
Bought this to dye some dungarees for a fancy dress costume. The dungarees are heavy denim fabric and I wondered if there would be even coverage where the dungarees were folded up in the washing machine, but it was perfect. Also the weight of the fabric was nearly double the recommended 600g, but I didn't have time to order another pod, but still perfect even colour. As others have said, anything synthetic doesn't take up the dye, so the stitching didn't change colour, but that wasn't a problem. Absolutely no mess, really easy to do.

Disappointing result
The end result was a shock. Before ordering I read everything on the sale page to ensure that the item I wanted to dye was suitable, and as it was a new pair of cropped cream coloured linen trousers I expected that they would have a great makeover with this dye. I knew that the dye would perhaps not work as dark due to the material composition, as per the t-shirt image on the advert. I knew to expect a slightly lighter brown shade. But no-where did it mention that the threads would not dye at all! I gave the trousers a quick pre-wash to leave them damp and then followed the pack instructions. They are now brown with white/cream seams. They look like a child's pair of trousers and I have certainly made a mistake trying to change them to brown!! Not Happy!!

It really works!
Wow itโs like I have a brand new pair of jeans! I was hesitant to purchase because of the bad reviews. However, the package specifically states to use on 100% cotton and front facing washers only. And all the bad reviews they either didnโt use a front facing washer or they didnโt use cotton materials lol. Follow the instructions and it will work!

Great results so easy
Way easier than rit dye on the stove! Wish they offered more color selection. Did a knit cottomln cardigan with espresso and it turned out great, a gorgeous rich color. Followed instructions and it turned out great! Will buy more dylon pods for sure.

Nice color but left a huge stain
The item I dyed was a huge linen duvet cover and two shams. Everything fit well into the washer. I was very happy with how everything looked until I got to the shams. One got completely ruined! It has large, overly dyed/stained spots on it that I tried to wash and rinse out without success. It's ruined and now I have to try to find some that match the duvet. I will say... Everything came out great! It was just the color I was hoping to get. I only used one pod with a cal king linen duvet cover and shams in my regular washing machine. So convenient.
