Brilliant product !
This gadget is brilliant ! We have had a mole problem all summer & have tried all sorts of deterrents. Nothing worked & our lawn was totally wrecked. Then I came across this gadget & since it had such good reviews I decided to give it a go. I ordered it on a Tuesday, it arrived Wednesday & I carefully followed the other reviewers` instructions in washing it with soapy water, rinsing & handling it with rubber gloves. Having found the mole run with a very long screwdriver I put the trap in place & covered it with a plastic bowl as someone else suggested. Thursday morning I could not believe my eyes - no new mole hills (we had had over 30 !!) !! I removed the plastic bowl & found the trap had activated. One very large mole dispatched !! I only wish I had found this device sooner. If we get any more moles next year I will use it immediately. Amazing product. Very well designed, easy to use & extremely effective. An update to my original review. Having trapped a mole quickly in September & another the following May I have been chasing a mole around for several weeks. The cheeky blighter even tunnelled under my traps engulfing them in a large mole hill. I eventually twigged where I was going wrong. When I moved my traps, although I was wearing rubber garden gloves I think either my scent or the fact that soil was getting trapped in the mechanism meant it wasnโt working so efficiently so I was having no success. I then returned to basics & removed the traps, washed in soapy water, rinsed thoroughly & replaced in the tunnels wearing marigold gloves. Within 24 hours I had trapped the offender. In future I will always wash & replace the traps if I need to move them !

Initially good.
This trap was easy to use and I did catch a mole within the first few days. However, since then I have had nothing. The mechanism is stiff and the trigger won't action as it should. I have washed it in clean clear water as recommended by the manufacturer and exercised the mechanism but it still doesn't work properly. I would have returned it but am now out of time. I have caught more moles with the old fashioned claw type traps. Not worth the money and I cannot recommend this trap. Maybe I just had a faulty one but I wouldn't buy another.

Works, but not very durable
I had a serious infestation of moles and looking for a solution came across the Beagle trap, they seemd to be easier to use than the more traditional trap so I ordered three to cover my third of an acre garden. It took a little while to perfect my methodology but once I got going I found them to be very succesful in trapping the little creatures, sometimes within an hour or two of setting the trap. A little care is needed in setting them accurately within the tunnel so as the mole doesn't by-pass them or just push them out of the way, if nothing happens within a couple of days I found it best to re-locate them to another part of the tunnel system. It won't eliminate the problem but it will allow you to keep on top of the problem and transform the garden from something that lookes like the lunar landscape. After two years one of the traps has failed, the fragile plastic "trigger" has snapped off so rendering the trap unuseable. Not sure if spare parts are available? A little disappointing given the price of the unit and I feel sure the other two traps will go the same way given the nature of the materials and construction.

And the winner is
I had been using a mole scarer for several weeks to no avail. I then purchased one of these traps and set it into one of the mole tunnels I had located with a thin probe. unfortunately next morning I found it had gone off and sprung up out of the lawn with no mole caught. I realised that I had loosened the soil too much by using a half moon edging tool to cut the hole so I made a fresh hole using a small pointed trowel so that the trap was a nice snug fit. Next morning delight - it had gone off and as I pulled it up there was a lovely but dead mole in it. I washed it wearing latex gloves and re set it in the same position and on next checking there was mole number two. Three weeks have now passed with no further sigh of mole activity so I can truly say I am delighted as the previous scarer had consumed a number of batteries fruitlessly. I recommend this product to anyone who wants an easy to set and use trap

Poor quality.
The traps do work well and are easy to position and catch. The problem is quality. I've just received two. One was fine, the other faulty. The spring disconnected. I have had this happen in use and repaired them but why should you have to do this with a new trap? Sent it back and received another the next day. Excellent service, however, I knew this had the same fault even before I opened the box. You can hear it rattling if you shake the trap / box. With this fault it will not operate. You should shake it, it should be quiet and then set and trigger it. It should easily operate. If not it's faulty and will not trap. Shame really as the idea is excellent.

Best on the market for ease.
Have tried different traps as my land is covered in moles and if you're not an expert this is the best you can get . Originally paid a professional and he caught about 10 moles but since found that this was the most successful mole trap out of al the ones I tried. Was negative about this product at first but the failure was due to me rather than the product. Have bought a load more but the price rise is a bit hefty. 39% price increase in the last year.

Waste of money
I have put off writing a review for this mole trap as I badly wanted it to work well for me. I chose this product because it was British made and appeared less gruesome than traditional traps but I'm very, very disappointed as I have not been able to catch a single mole. I have read and re-read the pack directions, watched the video and paid attention to all the hints, tips and mole-idiosyncrasies on the manufacturers website. Everyday, when I positioned the trap I was convinced that it would be successful this time. But no, not this time, nor daily now, for 14 days. Meanwhile, I have had to continue to sweep my 30 odd mole hills daily, plus mend the mess I made in the grass installing the trap. I suffered the final insult today when I discovered my un-sprung trap perched on top of a defiant and triumphant hill I suppose the product 'does-what-it-says-on-the-tin' as it is described as an "Easy Set Mole Trap", and that is what it is, "Easy Set" not "Easy Catch". In fact, I'm wondering if the trap is sensitive enough, as for a mole to dig it up and display it on top of it's hill, without activating, indicates to me that the mole must possess some skill and good fortune, unless the trap requires a hefty boot to trigger it. All I can say is, I'm so pleased I only bought one trap, not the 6 or more recommended on the manufactures website for the garden size. As a last attempt, before I call in the professionals, I'm off to the local hardware store to buy a traditional trap, in to hope it is " Troublesome-to-set-but-fixes-the-mole"

We arrived home from our holidays on Friday night to find around 20 new holes in our brand new lawn! Having never had a mole problem before we did some research into the various ways of 'disposing' of our new resident and having seen the reviews we decided to go for this easy set mole trap. It arrived yesterday morning and having followed the instructions we managed to find a small run and set it in about 5 mins. Having read about how clever the moles are at avoiding traps and the trouble that people go to to try and rid themselves of moles I was very unconvinced that it could be that easy. This morning we checked the trap to find it had been sprung ( the red handle is a great indicator) and Mr Mole was well and truly dead! It was really easy to dispose of him and obviously we can use the trap again should we need to. Brilliant! No hassle and 100% effective! Very happy to recommend this product.
