In the UK we are usually OK, but during a cold dry spell with heating on I found my house was down to 30% RH which could cause shrinkage and cracks the guitar’s soundboard and back. The system uses sealed pouches that absorb or give out water vapour to keep the inside of the guitar case at about 50% RH. You need a guitar case that is impermeable - moulded plastic or vinyl covered. The pouches last a few weeks depending upon how often you open the case and how much your room deviates from 50% RH.
