Divine action, devilish thrills and a killer new look. The continuing blood sucking saga… unleashed again on DVD. Angel, a 240-year old vampire cursed with a conscience, haunts the dark streets of Los Angeles alone. But after he meets a half-demon with mysterious visions, Angel realises his true purpose: to help those in danger with the hope that he may have a chance to redeem himself and save his own soul. With Cordelia and Doyle at his side, he forms Angel Investigations, and is soon joined by Wesley, Gunn, Lorne and Fred. He will need all their expertise to fight the growing forces of evil, and the supernatural law firm of Wolfram and Hart. Enjoy all 111 episodes over five seasons on 30 discs. Special features include Review: More sheer genius from Whedon - I left it late to join the Angel fanclub due to my disliking of his character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I found him to be at times a little dull. This being the case I avoided watching this series and instead proceeded to watch other works of genius from Joss Whedon such as Dollhouse - Season 1-2 [DVD ] and Firefly - The Complete Series [DVD] [2003 ], which are both masterpieces of the imagination, and my favourite television programmes to date. However, when a friend introduced me to the first season of Angel, my opinion of him changed. While still not a fan of him in the Buffy series (I was always rooting for Spike) I must admit he is much improved when given his own show, he becomes a more rounded and likeable character. But that being said there are more fantastic characters created by Whedon here, and some familiar faces for fans of Buffy. And, for those of you turning to Angel after watching Buffy, the similarities are there for all to see, but for want of better words I would describe it as being slightly more 'grown up', more akin to the later season's of Buffy, where darkness and emotion are more prevalent. Having now seen every episode, I can say that there was not one which disappointed me, they are all very watchable, with some outstanding ones to boot (Wesley-centric episodes are always great). Overall I wouldd urge you to dive into this set, and not wait as I did. Whedon, I'm sorry I ever doubted you. Review: Absolutely the best purchace I've ever made! - I first heard of this series 3 years ago when I was in secondary school when my friend brought in her box set and was saying what a great show it was. At the time, I wasn't into violence or dark storylines. However, a few years later, I have had an interest in the supernatural and decided to give the Angel series a chance. Well, I must say it was the best decision of my life (so far)! I LOVE IT! The storylines are amazing and the actors are brilliant! You really feel involved with the story and I found myself on the edge of my seat many times. The violence is dynamic and every episode leaves you wanting to watch more. Angel is portrayed by the talented David Boreanaz and with Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter), Doyle (Glenn Quinn), Wesley (Alexis Denisof) Spike (James Marsters) and many more characters battling alongside him, you can bet they'll be a whole load of spectacular scenes. I was also pleasantly surprised to see moments of humour included too, which helps make the series a joy to watch and gives the show a new dimension! Every complement to the fantastic Joss Whedon for creating this amazing show! Overall, I would absolutely definately reccomend this box set to any vampire fan! A great watch! The only critisism is that I wish the show had a few more series!

Really enjoyable, and much more than just a grown up version of Buffy
I have really enjoyed watching this series. I grew out of Buffy some time ago and had never bothered with Angel because I thought there was nothing new to be done here. I was so wrong! The Angel series is more mature and much deeper. The characters are fuller, rounded and change in believable ways over time. There is a strong sense of warmth between the main characters, and the cast changes just enough to keep the stories edgy and exciting but not so much that continuity and a level of familiarity is lost. The special effects are great without overwhelming the plots. There's just so much new stuff in Angel that the Buffy series couldn't have help or risen to the challenge of. Having viewed the entirety of the Buffy series makes it much easier to follow story arcs involving the past of characters such as Angel, Cordelia, Spike, Druscilla and Darla, and the continuity but also furtherance of these characters and their stories is exciting stuff. The stories will surprise you but also build on what you know from the Buffy series.

Brilliant
Been years since I've watched Angel despite it being one of my favourite shows of all time. I recently got a real urge to watch it again so bought this box set along with the buffy box set(which is also one of my all time faves). I'm currently on season 3 and enjoying it so much. Theres loads of episodes that I had forgotten about and it has been great reliving the ones I remember well. There are so many great memorable characters, obviously theres Angel but the likes of Cordelia, Wesley, Gunn, Spike to name just a few all help to make the series great. I'm now in my mid thirties and love it just as much as when I first watched it in my early 20s and I'll no doubt still love it when I'm in my 50s.

Cheaper than watching on Prime
My only reason for buying this boxset was that it worked out cheaper than paying to watch the series on Amazon Prime (it was included in Prime for a while, but then it left Prime when I only just started watching it). There are some special features on the DVDs that I couldn't get to work on my computer (they seem to be scripts and pictures, not additional videos - the additional videos, such as writer/cast interviews worked ok) - that may well be because of problems with software/compatibility with my current computer/DVD player etc. But watching the episodes works fine. Delivery was by Royal Mail and was as expected (not next day). I have to admit that since I hadn't already been familiar with the series this is not one of the boxsets I wanted to own because I loved the show (as with all my other boxsets), but if it turns out to be good (now that I'm catching up two decades after this was made!) then so much the better. The box itself is quite clunky - it's a single plastic box holding all the discs, which are stacked in piles of three on plastic posts, so you have to remove the top ones to get to the bottom disc; but I'm not too fussed. As for the content of the show... I remember watching Buffy when it first aired, and which I rewatched some of while it was still included in Amazon Prime until recently - Buffy seemed more high-school teenage themed (and boys in my social circles at the time used to watch the show because they all fancied Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy); but Angel is a more grown-up show compared to that. I'd agree with people who feel that Angel is a series that could stand on its own, rather than just be a spin-off of Buffy. I enjoy the style of the production, and the soundtrack is also better than a good number of TV shows I can think of. The young David Boreanaz, who played Angel, was well cast (although nothing like his character in real life!). I watch this show more for the impressive production, not so much the writing/story. Still working my way through the DVDs - not disappointed yet!

Finally, got them both!
My parents bought me this for my birthday to go with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer boxset I got just previously from my partner, and having watched the series when it aired, love this. Out of the two, Angel was more adult and gritty, therefore it intrigued me just that little bit more than its parent, so I was heartbroken when it was cancelled. Luckily, it has continued on in comic form. The acting is superb and makes it overall a brilliant series, even on its own. There is only one small problem. In one of the DVD's (not sure which season), it skips a good scene, but that was to be expected as my parents had bought it used. However, I have no real complaints and just want to say thank you. I now, along with BTVS, have my favourite TV shows ever in my home :D!!!

Angel is an old school classic that future generations must see
Not watched Angel in years, but out of nowhere I decided to revisit this masterpiece that I followed during my college days. I, like many others on here purchased this alongside the Buffy Box set as I wanted to revisit both as they interlink together. If you are part of the new generation and have never seen Buffy or Angel, I would advise you to purchase this. Angel & Buffy was when Vampire tv shows actually meant something, not like some of the cheesy rubbish we see today on our TV screens. The thing that makes Angel different to the likes of Vampire Diaries, Twilight, and all the other cheesy stuff we see today as that Angel was created at a time when vampire tv shows didn't centre around cheesy egotistical rubbish. Angel is an all time classic that must be appreciated by future generations

Cruisin’ for a Broodin’
Buffy is one of my favourite series ever, but always gave Angel a miss as I assumed it was going to be a tacky knock-off chick-flick vehicle. How wrong I was! It’s both darker and funnier than Buffy, and it was a pleasure to see so many old faces reappearing. Some fantastic new characters too. Whilst it was never going to be as groundbreaking or generation-defining as its mother show, this is sharply written, always interesting, and extremely enjoyable. ‘Smile Time’ is probably the funniest episode from either series! The DVD box set has plenty of additional material and commentary tracks that make this well worth owning.

Programma per adulti
Fantastico. Molto Dark e grezzo.
