Durable and effective
I have been wearing this for 12 weeks. Although nobody wants to have to wear one of these things, this truss is comfortable and effective. The belt is wide and sturdy and the Velcro has remained strong. Most of the photographs show it being used over undershorts. I find it much more effective and convenient to wear the belt over a T-shirt or undershirt. Excellent product.

Fits well and does it's job.
It took a bit (a week or so) to really 'get the feel' for this. It seems to do a good job though, when I take it off 'everything's where I left it.' I wore this to Josha Tree and hiked for miles without any real issues. It takes a bit to get used to the strap and tension but it's better than the feeling without it. I did go in and had my doctor review it, and he feels comfortable using this on an ongoing basis to manage the hernia without any stated limitations. I'll just check with him annually unless something changes. I use the smaller pad, and it took a bit of feeling around to find the right spot for it to press that didn't get in the way of sitting down (for example). The lower belt that holds the pad firm to your abdomen slides along the back, loops around the front, then pulls back and fastens to itself. Its a decent design, don't get it too tight or it binds. You need it tight enough to keep the bottom pulled back. Obviously, lay on your back and fit it when everything's 'flat' so you're not mashing anything. It should feel 'right' but by all means get a professional opinion if you need one (or your insurance covers it). It took me 4 weeks to see my primary care physician so this definitely helped get me by until I got his official approval. The waist band is very sturdy, my wife commented on how nice and strong it was, it's (as shown in the picture) several inches and fully velcro on the fastening side with a rubbery inner side that sort of grabs what you're wearing. The picture also shows that having underpants with a little leg helps keep the strap off your skin and does seem to make it wear a bit more comfortably.

Hilarious Hernia
The package was open and the belt was used, so I am using a belt that rubbed up against someone else’s crotch. Besides this nice inconvenience, the belt is great for temporary relief of symptoms for an inguinal hernia, whether on your left or right. It has a detachable thick compression pad and a built-in memory foam pad. And it has non-slip strips, so it won’t take your pants down and you won’t look like a gangster that sags. There are two adjustable straps, one for the groin and one for the waist, and the belt will fit most body sizes. If you are morbidly obese, it probably won’t work. I suggest wearing this from the time you are diagnosed by a medical professional to the time of surgery. This provides temporary relief; it is not a permanent solution like surgery. You will probably have to urinate more because of the pressure this belt applies to your bladder. And, if you use the thick pad, you will appear as though you have an erection. The ladies will love it!

Works Well At A Reasonable Price
I have a rather large inguinal hernia and have surgery scheduled. I needed a hernia belt to keep it from becoming incarcerated while I wait. The belt is well made and works to keep the bulge to a minimum. I found that wearing the belt against my skin created irritations. After some experimentation I found that wearing the belt over my shirt worked best. It’s a little tricky to get right but once tightened the belt stays in place and the irritation is gone. While the belt is washable it must be washed by hand and air dried. Overall, I believe it’s a quality product for its purpose. As for “comfort” I have gotten used to it and the bulge in my pants. I found the best positioning for the belt to be effective and not irritating for me. Actually, there are time when I forget that I’m wearing it. I am using the L/XL version and have lots of extra belt. The Velcro grips very well. My best advice is experiment with it to find the best position that is both effective and comfortable. It’s been a 5 star experience for me as a first time user.

Great for the money!
Support is great with additional thicker pads to add support. The adjustable band, with velcro fastening, is easy to use and secures snugly.

operates well
OK, but the belt is difficult to connect. Possibly I ordered a unit that is too big. the thin velcro strap that goes between your leg always gets tangled with the belt as you put it on with the velcro getting tangled to the belt.

Well made
Top quality materials. The 2 included pads let you adjust the level of support just right. The belt also is lined with an anti slip material that keeps it in place.

Works, but awkward to fasten
Works well but awkward getting the Velcro attached in the back.

I was reluctant to order a hernia belt because I had read that they can do more harm than good, and that you should talk to your doctor first… which I did. He assured me that I would likely benefit from one though he confirmed they can be problematic. For example, one of the problems that can occur is when a protruding hernia is strangulated by the belt, cutting off blood supply, in which case immediate medical help is required. In any event I decided to buy this belt a couple of weeks ago, as it just looked more robust than the ones at my local health care stores and other online sites. My hips measure 44 inches, which is the cut-off between the smaller and larger size; I went with L/XL and it fits well. The first day I put the belt on I couldn’t believe how great I felt, almost felt like I could enter a weight lifting competition and do a triathlon – having never done either in my life. The next day, and a couple of days since, I wasn’t quite as lucky as I needed to make a few adjustments to make the belt comfortable. As at least one reviewer mentioned, the belt edges can be very uncomfortable when in direct contact with your skin, rather than being cushioned by underwear (boxers are best). Most of the time I’ve been using the thinner compression pad and when I get the belt adjusted right I barely notice it, though I still take the belt off when watching TV and other less than strenuous activities. When it comes to more demanding work I feel more confident with the thicker compression pad – hopefully not over confident.

It is very comfortable to wear and keeps my husband's hernia in place. This is the reason I bought it for him. He is waiting for an operation so until then this will help him work as near normal as possible.

I found the quality of this belt to be first rate. The heavy duty waist band is a plus and the Velcro hold is strong. The only downside is that if you wear the belt against the skin rather than putting it on over your underwear, it can cause irritation. I found that if I wear the belt against my skin, the edges of the belt dig into my flesh. This could be an idea for a next run of these belts, that they could soften the edges of the belt or line it with fleece so it could be more comfortable against bare skin. Just an important note to those men who have an un-diagnosed hernia. Get your doctor to rule out spermatic cord lipoma, which is classified as an indirect inguinal hernia. This condition mimics inguinal hernia and is repairable through laparoscopic repair.

My hernia came on as a surprise, about 4 weeks after experiencing some pain after exercise. Eventually, a swelling appeared, accompanied with some 'pinching' pain, and my doctor diagnosed it as a hernia, which had not broken through as yet. The treatment was to wait until it appeared. I already had experienced a hernia on my left side, and fixed in 2009, so I knew the drill. I ordered the AbdomenCare belt based on the reviews. It works well for me, and I wear it comfortably all day. I appreciate the advice given by reviewers about fitting the belt while lying down. This method worked well for me. I hardly notice the belt as I go through my day, as it sits below my waistline, and once in place, causes me no discomfort. It also does not interfere with 'bathroom breaks', and can be removed and reinstalled quickly, and more easily with practice. The wide belt fits easily, and is soon forgotten, once on. It is well made, very adjustable, and I will be ordering a second belt since this wait could be long, and I like always having a clean belt available. This AbdomenCare Support Belt is well made, easy to use, and fairly priced. It works well for me, and I recommend it.

I was getting a lot of pain starting with my workout and then building during the day. Have had this belt about 5 days now and so far its very good. It looks well made. Felt a little awkward to begin with but certainly helped with the pain so I’m very happy. In fact last night I took it off to go out and immednoticed pain coming on. Wished I had thought to buy it weeks ago. Started with largest pad, then smaller and today used no pad, just the belt. Seemed to work fine. I’ve been sick with a cold but hope to try it during a workout Friday.
