The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardry of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I wish I could give this six stars! I loved the film, I bought this book on the strength of the reviews here and I am so happy I did. It is a lovely book, so well thought out. So much detail about the making of the film with loads of really interesting art work and photos. Great insights into how the various problems were overcome to bring this story to the screen. Lovely profiles of characters. Some really good reproductions of posters and other items you'd have seen in the film, including my very own Wand Permit form. I read this book and took in all its visuals in one long sitting this afternoon and will really enjoy dipping into it again and again. Don't hesitate! If you are a fan of the whole Potter/Magical World that JK Rowling has created you will be delighted with this book. For all ages.

Absolutely beautiful production quality, so many additional inserts and envelopes that I wasn't expecting. Even paying the full RRP it's worth the money. A gorgeous object to own and a must have for any fan of the Harry Potter series. Unfortunately my copy arrived damaged but this is being changed promptly.

Fantastically informative, fun and high quality movie props and replicas. Once again, MinaLima knock it out of the park. BUY THIS, and then the Crimes of Grindelwald, also by MinaLima. AVOID the Secrets of Dumbledore, this isn't by MinaLima and it's abysmal.

Beautifully designed, this is a lovely companion book to the movie, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” The hardback is even designed to look like a case; the sepia colour of the paper and the layout all add to the 1920’s style and, best of all, this is not all style and no substance, but it is packed with lots to read and explore. The book is full of photographs, pull outs, information on the characters, actors (and actresses) that star in the film, the sets and more. There are eight chapters, which all deal with different facets of the storyline – so one chapter looks at New York, another Macusa, another The Blind Pig, etc. The last chapter looks at Newt’s case and introduces all of the creatures mentioned in the movie, just in case you do not have the original version of, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” If you don’t, then a new version is being republished in March, 2017. This really is a lovely gift book. I have purchased this for my children, who really enjoyed the movie and are happy to embrace a new era in J K Rowling’s magical world.

I'd seen this book advertsed online for £20 couldn't justify paying that much as I hadn't seen any reviews or seen the book in person so I went to my local book shop where I had found it for the marked price on the back for £30 and was also damaged. So to my delight I found the book here even cheaper. I am apsloutaly in love with the book as it is such good quality from the feel of the paper to the magnetic fastener on the front cover. one thing that I would of liked with the book is if there was more information about the creatures.

I eventually bought this book after months of thinking about it. So glad I did. The quality of the book is top notch, even the pull out sections are made of really thick paper. Any fan of the film or graphic designers/artists with no real interest should love the detail and explanations of what the cast and crew dealt with on set. The thought which goes in to all the design is phenomenal and the talent of the design team is outstanding. I would have loved to have followed them around for a few days but this book almost allows that. Highly recommend it.

I prefer the latest one but its a beautiful book. Worth having

This is an excellent book. I will admit I am a Harry Potter geek so I might be somewhat biased but after seeing the Fantastic Beasts film I wanted something to delve into the story further. The detail in the book is outstanding and just what we come to expect from the wizarding world. There are some brilliant facts, photos, sketches and pullouts that really kept me entertained. I have recommended this book to several friends.

È un libro davvero molto bello e ben fatto. Dentro racconta tutti i dietro le quinte della creazione del film. Capisco che possa sembrare costoso ma è dovuto anche al modo in cui è stato stampato: tutte le pagine sono su carta liscia stampata a colori e ci sono anche degli inserti con delle chicche davvero carine. L'ho comprato per me stessa ma sono sicura che sarebbe un regalo apprezzatissimo da un fan della serie. (L'ho acquistato in inglese)

What an incredible book! Filled with beautiful imagery and art work complete with paper replicas from the movie itself. Book came in perfect condition and really quickly given all of the COVID-19 delays. Cannot recommend this book enough!!

There are two books on the making of the film. This is one (160 pages) and the other is 'Inside the Magic: The Making of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' (144 pages). Both books talk about the making of the film so I don't know why it's necessary to put out two books other than to confuse the fans. I recommend getting The Case of Beasts instead because it's the better book. This is a hardcover book that comes with a magnetic latch which is quite cool as it's made to look like Newt's case. Focus of this book are on the characters and location. It talks in detail about the actors, the story characters and the locations. It answers a lot of whys and hows. You can read about why the actors are casted, the peculiar of the characters, how they recreated the 1920s New Yorks, how the sets were designed, the props that were used, the research that went into making the film. There are lots of behind-the-scenes photos, film stills, designs and pictures of the props. This book is presented like a scrapbook. There are also items pasted onto the pages, such as Henry Shaw's campaign brochure, Porpertina Goldstein's identification card issued by Macusa, two maps one of which was shown pinned to a board in the film, large wanted posters for Newt and Porpertina, and an application form for wand permit.
