Excellent for Learning about other Countries
I purchased this Dora Leap Pad game for my 6 year old son for a little over ยฃ5 from Amazon and felt it was really good value, especially considering that on Leap Frogs website they charge around ยฃ15-ยฃ20 for the game in app form. Specifically I got the game as I have been working to encourage my son to want to learn Spanish as I grew up myself speaking it. In the game you get calls from children around the world calling to ask Dora for help as Swiper has come to their country to steal an item of importance. The Map tells you how to get there - citing well known landmarks in that country. You then point out where these locations are on the map (much like how the tv show is done). Very much like the tv show in so many ways, avoiding obstacles down a river, answering questions to build things etc. If your child likes Dora they will love this game as it is so similar to the show. Also I am impressed with the locations chosen to learn about there is a great level of variety and shows just how different the world is in culture and in look, weather etc. Felt for a little over ยฃ5 it was excellent! My son is enjoying it and spontaneously told me about the river nile the other day - so he must be learning (but we'll keep that a secret!)

Hit with the toddler and good value for money!
Bought this for my 4.5yr old. He absoultely loves it. A well thought-out and educational app/game. When scanned using the camera of the leap pad the charachters come to life on screen and ask the user to count the number of items required or find a specific card or number/shape to scan which makes them think about the correct answers and search for the right card in order to carry on.All that comes in the pack is a set of good quality cards in a nice tin and a sheet to organise the cards into categories. The game is downloaded using the unique code that comes on a scratch-card in the pack, so dont expect to have a physical cartridge (and dont give it as a gift to a toddler unless you have WiFi available straight away!). All-in-all, a tenner well spent as far as we're concerned. Arrived next day, also.

It is ok, easy enough for 5yr old
I like this game which occupied my daughter. She is not very good at platform games which requires timing and push buttons right time to jump on to something etc like Super Mario type. This game is combinations of simple maze, some music games( which require to remember patterns of sounds and colour), some drawing ( more like pen moving skills).I am not very happy with this drawing game which does not reflect what is actually drawn but automatically replace with complete line after some attempts from user... Not sure about the educational value on that.( Mr Pencil from Doodleburge was not like this, which I liked a lot). But anyway, this game is suitable for children who is not like normal platform game ( or not ready for that) and can do her own pace. Overall I am satisfied and liked this game but I want leapfrog to make no.2 of doodleburg series to be honest!!!

LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Jake and the Neverland Pirates Game
I'm sure it is wonderful but I had no idea that it needed something expensive before it could be used. It was just a kind of stocking filler as my son said that his little lad wanted anything to do with the Neverland Pirates. I had no idea about computer software or anything. In my mind I was buying something to lay all his Pirate toys out on, and keep together. It seemed even better that he could learn from using it, some kind of treasure hunt. I bought it a couple of months ago and we had to cancel a couple of visits due to one thing and another so I have just given it to him. His dad says it needs a computer or something to play it on as it is an educational toy. He took it with him to find out more. Just wanted to warn some silver surfer like myself that one needs to be sure what is being purchased. I was a bit rash.

my son loves it.
I was very much against computer games for children, considering it far better for them to play with real things, preferably outside, but I realise that the leappad does have something to offer even small children and this game is great. My son loves it. He is 4 and has a complete aversion to holding a pen, reading, writing, or anything remotely associated to learning. But with this game he is developing his hand eye coordination, following instructions, he is practising holding a pen and I consider it fantastic that there is something out there that can encourage and stimulate him without him even realising it! The game kept him busy on a rainy holiday and a long car journey. It's not cheap but it is a good game for small children.

Underwhelming game. If you must buy it do yourself a favour and buy some earphones for your child.
My just four year old received this game with his leappad. He hasn't played with it much since although seems to enjoy it when he does. It's good for second language English speakers as there is a lot of repetition of the name of the numbers. Beyond this I think your money is best spend elseA few criticisms and thoughtsThe gameplay is hugely repetitive. Especially the "follow the treasure map stage." Actually as my son speaks English as a second language it has been useful for him as he has to "find the blue butterflies". But the characters always say exactly same things and I suspect this gets quickly tedious even for a four year old. Unfortunately this stage is central to the game so you will be hearing a lot of it. This is one game I want to leave the room when he is playing as the soundtrack is so irritating.Other mini-games are a bit nicer. I think the lava path one is good. The map construction is also good although the controls are very fiddly and my son often thinks he has the answer wrong because he fails to exactly line up a map piece with the position into which it is supposed to be inserted. In all there are much better games available for the leap pad, although perhaps not so much that focuses on maths. Even here I am not convinced the game is really teaching that much although it has helped my son learn the names of the numbers in English (he knows them already in Portuguese). In all, I wouldn't pay more than 10 pounds for this; I think the dinosaur menu game for download might be a better introductory maths game and is much cheaper. But, I think if you find you must buy it because you want a maths game or your child loves Jake, then buy some headphones to go with it. It is painful to listen to.

Great for any Dora fan!
My Daughter got this game along with the Leapster GS for her 5th birthday. She has only really played simple games on my phone and pc before having this but shes had no problems picking up how to play and has needed very little help from me.The game plays like an interactive version of the tv show which is great! I don't think its too short for the age group its aimed at and it seems to have a lot of replay value for them. I'd say this is a great starter game as an introduction to games consoles that is both fun and educational!

Excellent Educational Game based on phonics and letters
Bought this game for my very advanced daughter, and she found this game so easy to use and understand, the play style is inovative, using the sounds of words as rolls of a dice. The mini challenges encourage logical thinking, and simple mathematical skills.Overall this game is a fabulous addition to my daughter's educational experience, and I would highly recommment this product to other parents who want to encourage education to be a fun learning process.5 Star product!

Art for all ages
I should say my four year old loves it! He just turned four last month, and I was excited to get him the Leap Pad Ultra tablet and a bunch of games. He got five altogether and a month later he still won't play the others because this one is his favorite! There are so many activities for him to do, he's always engrossed in it. Of course like any new game, or introducing a child to a new form of tech you have to sit with them and teach them how to use it The shape games, learning how to do the maze games and keep your finger down. At first he got made and made me do it every time but I just told him to practice and he would get it. He did, and he's much better now at trying now that he gets the concepts of the activities in the games. That's to be expected though, needing to teach him what it does. It's a great game!

Grandson Happy
Our 5 year old grandson loved the leapfrog gift for his birthday. With our current coronavirus issue in Canada daycare's & schools are closed. It has been an excellent teaching & learning tool at this time.

Works with Leap Pad 3
Bought it for my grand-daughter's third birthday. She loves it. Works with the Leap Pad 3, which is what she has, and she can have fun while learning.

Fun way to help boost reading skills
My 5 yr old loves this reading game, gave as a gift for Xmas and she loves to play it. Helps with practicing her reading sight words While we work with other reading skills. Have already noticed a difference in frustration lvl when we sit and read together.
