Review: Far superior to older models. - Up until last year I had an ancient 'fat' 40GB PS3 which eventually died having suffered an Xbox red ring of death style fault. It had lasted about 3 years, it was noisy, had very little memory and very occasionally crashed. I was deliberating buying a new PS3 or an Xbox 360. A friend donated me an Xbox 360 and having been severely annoyed by Microsoft's management of Xbox Live, I opted to go for the PS3. I haven't been disappointed. The new slim line 320GB version is sleek compared to the tank like XBox, it is very quiet, unobtrusive and is genuinely a pleasure to have. Apart from being smaller than the originals it's cooling system is better and it seems to run more efficiently. Playstation Network, is free and in my opinion better than Xbox Live, which was painful to manage (in addition, to cancel your XBox Live you have better luck getting blood out of stone and Microsoft will grill you for reasons why). I was quickly able to install my previous downloads which I had spent money on in the past. The storage size is huge and having installed Red Dead Redemption and its subsequent expansion packs it hasn't even taken up 5% of the capacity. It would have killed my previous one. The controllers are smaller and I feel better suited to the hand than the bulky Xbox pads. Plus they can be charged via USB rather than replacing the batteries as standard. That said this is more a personal preference than a design fault. The games you can buy are more or less identical for either console, so it's really a matter of what suits you as an individual. The only downsides to the PS3 is that you are constantly having to install software updates to the point it becomes frustrating. Xbox has these too but they are far less frequent. The Xbox interface is more user friendly, but the PS3's looks more sophisticated and classy. Playstation Move in my opinion is inferior to the Xbox's Kinnect and is more like the Nintendo Wii. That said I personally am not really interested in this style of gaming so it doesn't bother me. Friends are very complimentary about XBox Live online gaming but again I don't feel there is much difference and as I am not a massive fan of playing online, its not that important to me personally. In addition there was the recent problems with the Playstation Network being hacked into and people's personal information being available, but your just as vulnerable to hackers on XBox Live so no dramas really. XBox Live generally has more DLC that I have seen on the PS Network but it depends how much you use it. All in all a great console and far better than previous versions.
Review: Just the job - I bought this as a replacement for my ailing 60Gb PS3 that kept on falling down with repair bills approaching £100 each time each tine it went wrong. After the fifth failure, 40 or so days after it's fourth, I decided to cut my losses and get a 'Slim'. Had it a year now and no sign of failure. Mind you, the previous device last nearly four times that before it started falling apart. Am a bit disappointed that all the SD card slots have gone, taking half the USB slots with them. Also annoyed that the SACD playback has gone because I was using this. On the other hand I have just paired this up with an LG D2343 Cinema 3D display and the results are excellent. Both movies and games are terrific, in particular Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception where the 3D is particularly well done. The railway tunnels, and especially the opposition's red laser gun sights, in the London Underground section have to be seen to be believed.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many controllers are there?**
A: Comes with one controller and the PS3 has Wi-Fi built in

**Q: Hi, is the console whisper quiet ?**
A: Very "Whisper" quiet The only real noise comes from disc insertion/expulsion makes the most noise.

**Q: If you buy a ps3 from here, does it start on 3.55, or in other words. does it have to be updated at first ?**
A: You would need to ask the seller. However this model is now very old. A better buy would be the PS3 Super Slim 500gb. Depending on budget. A PS4 would be better still.

**Q: Does it have a warranty?**
A: I'm not sure Sony would offer a warranty now however we can offer 3 months.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Happy!
*by M***Y on 26 December 2014*

The actual PS3 is fantastic. Delighted with it. It was for my sons Xmas present and he loves it. I decided to go for a used one for money reasons and also I could get him a nice TV as well and not break the bank. The machine looked like new, a few minor scuffs which you wouldn't notice unless you went hunting for them, there are 2 small marks. That's it. It came well packaged and the accessories also looked like new. It even came with a HDMI lead ( which was nice) All in all I'm Very happy with the machine, the packaging and the service. Highly recommended.
