Headblade ATX Razor

I just love this razor. It's easy to shave in the shower by feel and without a mirror and its unique ergonomic shape makes it hard to go wrong. Yes, it is possible to cut one's self with it at first but after just a little use one learns just the right pressure to apply and shaving becomes an easy matter. The uniqueness lies in the design and shape of the actual razor. The blades are no better than any other cartridge blades however but I've yet to find generic ones that could be cheaper. The blades cost about £3.50 each at the cheapest price I can find (for the HB4s) and that's not cheap. Some say that they last longer than other blades but I've not found this to be so. I shave my head once a week on a Monday and a blade will do three good shaves and a fourth if I'm careful. I get a pack of 100 Shark Brand half-blades for my safety razor for £8 so that works out at 8p a blade and I use a new blade for every face shave without thinking about the price. The HeadBlade blades ARE expensive; there's no doubt about that and I'm surprised that other blade manufacturers have not taken advantage of the gap in the market. For the moment HeadBlade have a monopoly on the blades but the razor is just so well designed and easy to shave with that I feel it's worth paying what they are asking for the blades. As for all the other HeadShave foam, creams etc... I think they manage to sell it all on the back of their wonderful razor design. Many will say that they never cut themselves when they use the HeadSlick shaving cream but I think that's all in the head. The same goes for their HeadShed. IMHO it's no better than any other ex-foliating cream. Yep... a fantastic razor but just don't be sucked in to using all their other products 'cos the blades themselves will knock a deep enough dent in your grooming budget and their other products are really no better than anyone else's. The HeadBlade razor really IS unique and worth the money but that doesn't go for everything the company make and if you think it does then you are the victim of good marketing and the feel-good factor of owning a truly unique razor.

I have just purchased a second one of these as a gift. I actually bought this for my husband after watching the documentary on how it was made. How it was brought to manufacture etc. And he was really impressed watching it. So obviously as he shaves his head all the time it seemed like a great gift for him. I don't find it any more expensive than normal pricey blades, and he says once he got the hang of it, it was a great razor. A clean smooth cut, and with its shape makes shaving your head so much easier, with or without a mirror. And after reading some of the questions on here regarding this shaver, my husband used it with his own shaving gel. I don't think there is any need to be buying the gel etc. that these make. It really is worth investing in if you shave your head regular. whether or not its a case of use and like while its new then goes in the back of the cupboard I don't yet, but he's had it a good while now and is still using it. I also plan to buy for a few of our family members for Christmas.

Tried for the first time, took some getting used to especially how to hold and follow the head shape, got a few nicks as a result. A bit difficult around the ears but managed to get my head shaved all over. Took a shower first to soften the bristles, then applied shaving cream, then showered again. Good results, nothing applied to my head thereafter but used cocoa butter next day. Ordered a spare set of ATX blades but not sure how to remove and replace and also whether these are Gillette compatible as they look very similar. Will shave weekly and will aim to post another update in a Month.

I've used this for about 3 weeks . Face and head . All been good until Saturday this week . 3/4 through my shave and the blade in the roller thing decided the take a massive chunk of skin out of my head . It's about 4cms long and about 1cm wide . It's looks like I've had a skin graft ! I've had lots of Knicks and cuts with razors , but nothing compared the this . This will leave a large permanent scar on my head . I'm just lucky this wasn't on my face !!! This cut bled for hours . I won't be able to shave my head until it has fully healed over (probably 3-4 weeks ) Looks like I'll be going back to my old Gillette razor that I've been using for years with only a few minor Knicks and cuts . I will not be using this razor ever again !!

Just used and it's the best head shave I've had . No cutting easy to use and a great design.

This broke on its 3rd use. The blade came off and I attached it back on but it easily comes off now. Made of cheap plastic which is not fit for purpose. I gave it a star because it’s a good concept, just poor execution.

I was a bit dubious when I first saw the item. My immediate thought was it looked like a child's toy car! After using it I was impressed! I lathered my head and drew the blade across my head. Simple. No problem with my three days of growth. It shaves closer than my electric head razor and my face razor. I will be using it again
